Going to sell my spyder and get a new one.can't find a good value due to its a 2008 sm 5 turning 40,000 miles.everything I found that SOLD not asking price only has around 1,000 miles or a little more.nada isn't fair due to high mileage.I'm thinking fair value is 7k .never had a problem and doesn't need work.might try and trade in...

I would think that $6500 - $7000 would be a fair price if you are selling it. If you trade it in I would expect the dealer to give you around $5000. We traded my wife's 2009 RS SE5 with 20k miles on it for a 2013 ST Limited and the dealer gave us 10k. It had Givi bags, HMF exhaust, HIDs, Mono cowl, CHAD windshield and a few other things but he only gave us about $500 for the extras.

Out here, 2008/2009s are priced at the same level. Under 10K miles for $9 to $10K. There's nothing on Craigslist that has over 20K miles - in fact, there's 2009 GS with 3,400 miles on the clock for $10.5K.

Given this, one would think $5 to $7K would be a fair range for your Spyder.

:roflblack: you can check prices at Kelley Blue Book and NADA and put in the details (miles etc) and get prices for your area..wholesale, retail, sold by owner..:thumbup:

Same in Aust my 2008 with 41,000 k's (about 25,000 miles) i got offered $7000 Aust dollars ($6500.00 USD) for it. Mine has Air brushing art work, special artwork screen, Footboards, Givi panniers, Vertika rear end. And one of the main things the dealer was interested in was that it had good tyers.

Pricing is a tough one to nail for sure. Blue Book and NADA are good ball park information if it is put in for your area.

Most of the above posters are right on. $6K to $7K sounds reasonable for all that mileage. $5K seems pretty close for a trade in value.

Post and give it a go here on SL. The people here are astute pricers, so don't overprice--you may make a K or slightly more over trade in.

Based on my limited experience in both selling and buying mileage isn't that great an issue, believe it or not. Low mileage bikes that are beat up and dirty will sell for far less than high mileage bikes that are clean and sharp. Take the NADA, Kelly Blue Book, and Edmunds pricing for your area and discount it a little bit for mileage, but not much. Same with the sold prices you found. Emphasize the condition in your ads. Pitch the mileage as an indicator of the trouble free nature of the bike! Problem bikes don't get to rack up many miles! :D And after about 4 or 5 years the age of the bike becomes a secondary factor.
