I'm scheduled to take delivery of my new Spyder next week so I though it was time to join in. I'm both excited and nervous. This will be a big step for me.

My husband owns several Harleys so I've always been a passenger. I just didn't enjoy the rides. It always made me nervous and I couldn't relax and enjoy the trips so I got to where I just wouldn't go.

He thought that maybe I didn't enjoy the rides because I didn't have control so he offered to buy me a trike so I could ride with him. His first suggestion was a Harley trike which I thought was just too big. Then he took me to a dealership to see the Spyder. I think it was love at first sight.

I'm taking the Basic Rider Course this weekend so hopefully that will build my confidence.

:congrats: on choosing Spyder and :welcome:

I tried out a HD Tri-Glide before I traded in my 2011 Spyder for my 2014. They're nice trikes, but I was already too smitten by the Spyder and the community of riders I found here.

Which model are you getting? If you've been lurking here, you probably know we like pics. Please post some as soon as you get it!

It is a 2013 STS SE5 - Silver.
Yes, I've been lurking for a while but wasn't able to sign up until yesterday. The forum thinks I'm a spammer :banghead:

Good choice! tricycles with the single wheel in front are inherently unstable!

Are you taking delivery from a dealer?? If so, I would call them and make sure the 2013-9 service bulletin is done (ECM flash for temp control). Additionally, I would ask them to call BRP and have them set up a case # to get new side panels. I just got mine yesterday (warranty) and they make a huge difference in surface temperature!

I've got the same ride in Circuit Yellow.

Congrats... you're going to love it!!

Yes, I am purchasing from a dealer. We've already talked to them about the recalls and heat problems. They have assured us that everything will be taken care of. That is why I'm having to wait until next week to pick it up.

The Basic rider course is a great place to start!
In your owners manual there are some good tips on setting up a small riding course in a parking lot that may help you out as well.

Can't wait to see your pics!!!

Congrat's & welcome! As has been said you will love it. BUT !!! Give it time. I found that the more I ride and the more miles I put on the more I enjoy it. You will at first (like most of I'm sure) oversteer. Just relax and dial in as much steering as you need. You will find yourself with a dopey grin on your face after a while from having so much fun.

Eventually your 2 wheeled friends will have a hard time keeping up. Don't be mean. They can't help it, they only have 2 wheels!!:doorag:

My wife didn't like riding on the back for long distances then she tried a spyder in the fall of 2012, bought one on black Friday 2012, basic 3 wheel rider course in the spring of 2013 and she was ready. We rode West Virginia that year and this year we rode Atlantic Canada 3078 miles, nothing but smiles. You will love it.:)94711
