Seems these modern batteries have begun being designed to propel us far into the future...

Based on the same architecture as the Mission bike that destroyed the field at the FIM/TTXGP Laguna Seca race in 2011, the Mission RS Motorcycle ($56,500) is set to bring high-end electric riding to the streets. Limited to just 40 examples — one for each second of the aforementioned prototype's lead — the RS is powered by the company's InfiniteDrive powertrain, delivering over 160hp, a sub 3-second 0-60 time, a top speed of 150 mph, and a 140 mile range. Other features include Ohlins FGRT forks, BST carbon fiber wheels, and a seven-inch touchscreen powered by Mission OS, an Internet-connected info system offering turn-by-turn directions, an integrated HD camera with telemetry overlay, wireless HUD integration, and more — making this not only the most eco-friendly superbike around, but also the most tech-savvy.

That's cute; there are other more affordable options though... :D

The RS are limited to 40 copies... That would be all.

Ah, but there is an R version... Sounds interesting.

The Mission R uses the production version of the race-proven InfiniteDrive™ powertrain from Mission RS. It is the highest expression of production electric propulsion technology. Contained within a package one-tenth the size and weight of an equivalent traditional internal combustion engine (ICE), it provides the next generation of superbike power.

Engineered around a 120 kW (160 hp) electric motor, the InfiniteDrive™ powertrain is controlled by the most advanced electronics and traction control package ever seen on two wheels. The Mission R is able to immediately unleash 120 ft/lbs of torque starting from 0 rpm and process thousands of calculations per second to seamlessly control traction. The InfiniteDrive™ powertrain redefines traction control by moving beyond ICE measures of cutting spark and fuel, and in doing so expands the possibilities of superbike performance.

160 hp at the rear wheel. 120 ft/lbs of torque beginning at 0 RPM. 150 mph top speed. 0-60 in under 3 seconds. ¼ mile in 10.492 seconds. The Mission R has zero-compromises when it comes to performance.

What sort of range does it have?
Are special charging precautions needed?

Introducing the next evolution in the electric superbike, the Mission R. With design and engineering derived from race technology introduced in the Mission RS, the Mission R creates a new zero-compromise standard in production motorcycles.

At the heart of the Mission R is a 120 kW (160 hp) electric motor integrated with our proprietary Mission Motorcycles InfiniteDrive™. The InfiniteDrive™ powertrain offers unprecedented levels of control and performance never seen before in a production electric vehicle. Engineered by Mission Motorcycles, the Mission R is the new standard of production superbikes.

Devoid of pistons, crankshaft, clutch, and other mechanical parts rotating at thousands of rounds per minute, the Mission R creates a new dynamic in handling and control—what can only be described as a pure motorcycle experience. Without the inertial forces created by hundreds of heavy spinning engine parts, the Mission R drops into corners like no other motorcycle, while providing 120 ft/lbs of torque available from 0 RPM. The perfectly linear power delivery of the InfiniteDrive™ powertrain allows us to relegate the clutch and gearbox to the past. The Mission R brings to market the pinnacle of engine power delivery and control.

The custom chassis designed by James Parker provides a level of chassis feedback and control that outperforms anything in its class. Designed and built around the integrated stressed-member InfiniteDrive™ powertrain, the Mission R delivers the agility expected from a superbike while providing incredible straight line stability.

As with the Mission RS, the Mission R industrial design was created by Tim Prentice of Motonium. A breathtaking evolution of the Mission RS theme, the Mission R carries the design DNA of the Mission RS to a new and cutting-edge direction.

MissionOS™ is the revolution in motorcycle user interfaces. It delivers a complimentary cellular-data enabled, high resolution, pressure-sensitive touch screen based UI. The fully digital instrument cluster supports integrated GPS, Bluetooth, an optional integrated image-stabilized HD camera, and head-up display (HUD) integration. Optional seamless integration of turn-by-turn navigation, communications, controls, a track mode, and ride telemetry data, MissionOS™ rewrites the current expectations of motorcycle and rider interaction. With free automatic over-the-air updates, Mission Motorcycle owners will receive new features and capabilities as a stream of new updates and continual improvements.
