Take the left side cover off an you can stick your hand up were the cable locks the lid an pull on the latch to get it to open. It's hard but that's the way I had to open mine. ST Hope this helps.

being an RSS you could reach the cable pulling the oil access panel. Then I carry two keys. One in my pocket and one around my neck. To easy to put one in your coat pocket then put the coat in the frunk...

I keep a non-chipped key under the lining of the glove box.

If you buy a decent key chain, you will never lock your keys in there again...

Something like these... ;-)

Duct Tape is good...
But it won't last forever!
You might want to consider something a bit more permanent...

I keep a non-chipped key under the lining of the glove box. That's an excellent idea! I think I'll do the same (which will probably insure that I'll never need it :sour: ).

The locking mechanism design is different on the 12 RSS. Wouldn't work with that year/model. Helpful tip though for ST owners.

Removed the upper side panel and ever so lightly tugged on the cable and BAM the frunk opened right up. Thanks Lamont for the tip.:yes::yes:

What about if you decide to lock the handlebars and the glove box locks with it????

I used a choke cable for a small engine and placed the end under the left side oil panel the other end is secured to the locking mechanism. I often place both keys in the frunk when I am at an event or someplace I want the bike locked up. I get done with what I am doing, pop the panel off, pull the choke cable and the frank pops up. Now this is just between you and I right?

I also have a non-chipped key on the bike.
I hung mine behind the left access panel.

The glovebox on the RTs is not readily apparent to onlookers... I've kept a "Dummy" key in there for several years....

...never lost anything yet! :D

I had thought of putting it in there but I do have a habit of locking the steering/glovebox so if in need the key wouldn't be accessible...

You can get an extra key made and put it in one of those key boxes that are magnetic and put it on the frame underneath, on the top side. It will not come off and then you always have a spare key....:yes:
