Somewhat happy!!

Well going to post this after being quiet for some time. I had a 013 rs se5 , didn't have the comfort I wanted so got me a 014 RTs sm6. Now I have my comfort level I wanted. Road 250 miles the other day, enjoyed the ride very much, except the throttle response is slow , hard to make a smooth shift, unless you reduce throttle first then wait a split second before pulling in clutch. I'll get used to it maybe!! I have about 1000 miles on it now and that's my only complaint. Went on a poker run yesterday, and you would have thought my spyder had a ailment the way everyone stayed clear of my machine, probably jealous? Here's a photo of me at Crater Lake, Oregon.91794

I am speaking from the 2014 RTS SE6 viewpoint. When I was driving my SM5, I always rolled off the throttle in between shifts. The don't roll off protocol--is just for the SE trannies--IMO.

Most are saying to do the first three gearshifts on the SE6 right at about 2000 and the next three at about 2500.

I have tried this and do not like it as much as making most shifts at between 2500 and 3000. The nearer three thousand, the :spyder2: is just starting to wake up. Went around a couple slow movers today, in third to start with--wound it out to about 7000 to get around the cars and then went back to "normal" operation. The power and oomph is there and I am guessing the SM6 will allow you to enjoy the machine even a bit more.

It will get better when you get some miles on it. I went from a 2013 STS and then prior to that a 2011 RSS and my 2014 RTS is performing much better in the performance! I also did the cat bypass and two brothers exhaust which helped a lot as well.

both of my spyders are m shifters you must let up on the throttle each time you shift just like all motorcycles that are not auto.

I have been rideing manual shift motorcycles for more than 50 years never had any problem with throttle control before. Only had se5 transmission for one month but had it figured out right away. This throttle I have now just does not drop rpms quick enough to shift properly, it will over reev the engine when you pull clutch lever in unless you chop throttle, then wait a bit before you pull clutch in. I guess I can always power shift like l did when drag racing!! Well l can live with it until l get to a dealer.:banghead:
