Is 13k plus F+S a good price for a new 2013 ST?
I have just recently started looking so I don't know if prices are lower due to the factory promotion going on.

Assuming you are not talking about an ST-S or a Limited, that sounds fair. They are running about $13,600 to $14,800 in Texas.

Seems ballpark. Try for $12K and see what happens. You can always go up a little.

Years ago my youngest brother wanted to buy a snowmobile. He had a used one rented for a weekend and the dealer wanted $1200 for it. I told him when he takes it back to offer $700. When the dealer quits laughing, he'll probably come back with a $1000 offer. I said then offer $800 and the dealer will probably come back with $900. At that price buy it. A couple of hours later he comes back home driving the machine, and laughing. He said it went exactly as I suggested. The dealer laughed at the $700 offer and settled for $900!

Negotiate with a definite strategy in mind, and be absolutely ready to walk out at $1 over your top in-the-head price point. If you show you are serious, ready to buy, but also ready to walk out, they'll deal.

Another time I had a foster son who wanted to buy a guitar from a pawn shop. The guy was asking $100 but I said he should be able to get it for $80. My son took $100 with him, but at my insistence he left $20 in the car with me. He then went in and put 3 $20 bills on the counter. The pawn broker of course said no. Tai then pulled out 2 $5 bills, and the guy said no again. Then Tai pulled out 5 $1 bills. Still the answer was no. Then Tai pulled out quarters, nickels, and dimes for another $5 worth. The broker said yes!

When I tried the same tactic to buy my pickup it didn't work. Dealers will not take cash over $10,000. If they do there's a ton of paperwork at the bank to prove it's not drug money being deposited.

I am on my 4th spyder and have never paid freight or setup charges. If they are trying to charge that then shop around to some other dealers.

does the "up to $4k rebate on qualifying 2013 models" get factored in before or after the asking price?
