The question of not being able to shift from 1st to neutral has come up often lately. Most seasoned Spyder riders likely know this but there are a lot of new folks on the board. I made a video demonstrating why it won't shift. This is normal behavior for a SE5. If you are having this problem your Spyder is not broke. I believe it is programmed this way because press and hold is reserved for double shifting from 1st to reverse, but not pressing the reverse button at the same time, it will do nothing at all.

In the video you will see that I pull the lever to shift down but pause before releasing and it will not shift to neutral. But when I pull the lever and quickly release it will shift without any issue.

I would be interested in knowing if a SE6 does the same thing.

Ya learn sumthin new every day. Never knew you could press Rev and hold downshift to go from 1st to Rev.:dontknow: I always just tap the downshift so I have never had the issue going to neutral .

I never had the issue shifting to neutral as I always have just did the fast tap on the shifter. But I did learn a while ago (by mistake) that I could go from 1st to reverse. Good info for those that do not know. Thanks for posting.
