For those of you who aren't going to Gatlinburg......

HDX and I will be there next weekend. We'll be camping and we spent all day trying to get both the Spyder and the Roadglide loaded up into our Toy Hauler. Well it worked - we can take both bikes! We were a little worried w/ the size of the :spyder:AND fitting the Harley in there but it's a go!

If anyone's interested, we'll be at the Blue Ben Diner in Bennington (Route 7) at 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 27th - so far the weather is looking good! We'll be in VT by Thursday at some point and we will be there until we check out on Monday.

You did well. I was worried when I first tried to load the Spyder and additional bikes in my trailer. I managed to get in the Arachnid and two small bikes, and keep the tongue weight acceptable. No way to do that with my Beemer in there with the Spyder, though. I am jealous! :)

 how much space were you working with in your toy hauler? We want to tow our bikes - any tips on how to set up the bikes? Looking to fit an electra glide (bagger!) and my little pumpkin :spyder:. I'm convinced we'll have to buy a bigger trailer...secretly hoping there's another solution! Thanks

I am checking with the lovely bride (the :doorag: boss) right now. We're just in Berkshire County, MA-- a nice, twisty ride from Bennington, VT four towns away.

I forgot... The Cycle City sponsored (http://www.customcitycycle.com/fallrun.htm) Fall Run to benefit the Shriners Hospital is Sunday. If anyone is coming to your Bennington gathering, and is around on Sunday for a quick 60 mile ride, here's a nice article from a couple years ago (http://www.iberkshires.com/story.php?story_id=20946), and the
brochure for this year (http://www.customcitycycle.com/fallrun08.pdf) :doorag:

I'll still swing up to Bennington on Saturday with ole PE #2929 (tho' I don't think I'll be able to show off the new paint job yet) either with son or daughter or with lovely bride.

Hey, Sopher, if you (or anybody else) comes from the east like Boston or Worcester, you need to go right near us to get to Bennington; we could connect here if you want...

Hey Monique! My hubby, HDXBONES will reply shortly about the dimensions since I'm not the expert here:) I will take some pics today of it and will upload them tonight when I get back from our ride!

We used to be able to tow his Roadglide & my softail and get them in no problem - this was definitely GREAT NEWS when we found out yesterday we could get both our toys in! I'll take some pics on how we did it and post them up later:)

10 is better, but hey, I'll cave to Spyder peer pressure...also, I'm close, so nobody'll let me complain much about times...

Whatever you all want! :chat:

Also, I forgot (again) that Saturday night before the Fall Run is Bike Night in Adams, MA (http://www.customcitycycle.com/fallrun.htm), home of Mount Greylock:
http://www.mass.gov/dcr/parks/mtGreylock/images/greylock_home.jpg

...really not far south from Bennington, VT. Runs from 4pm ish to 9 pm. Bunch of restaurants open, vendors there, bands, raffles, etc.
It'd be cool to have a bunch of Spyders there.

OK, let's shoot for 10 a.m. then. That ride sounds cool for Sat night! I'll check w/ HDX. There is also a big car show in Burlington we might go to - not sure yet. Oh, and we know North Adams very well - two years ago we accidentally got stuck in some parade there (this time of year). We tried getting out by going on all the side streets but ended up on the main road going int the reverse direction of the parade - it was funny! The cops actually let us ride the parade backwards LOL!

Excellent! We'll be campin in style! Is Steve coming? If he is, I better load up on potatoes - remember when he ate 1/2 dozen of them the last time LOL!
I think we are gonna do Mt. Greylock on Friday. Then after the Blue Benn on Sat maybe we'll all go riding the usual route that we've gone up there - towards Killington. I hear there is a really cool very large car show in Burlington this weekend - at Heavenly Donuts last night Pat was telling us about it - maybe we'll cruise up there on Sunday - wish you guys could stay longer.:hun:

Ha! Yup, that was the fall foliage parade (http://www.fallfoliageparade.com/index.php?nav_id=1). You're too early for it by at least a week this time, but you might get "caught" in the fall motorcycle run on Sunday if you're still anywhere near there...could be 2,000 motorcycles!

I'm pretty sure the gate is still down on the road up to Greylock due to the construction, but motorcycles go around it...!

I don't know if you guys have your laptop while your camping...the rain let up a bit tonight, but might start to pour again tomorrow a.m. Hope you're stayin' dry! I'm still aiming to come up tomorrow for coffee and eggs.

Well, I had a a great time at the "Gatlinburg North" gathering in Bennington, Vermont today--good food, good stories, nice relaxed attitude despite tropical storms and hurricanes! I sure think it rivaled that southern get-together in the Smokies--maybe just with a few less Spyders!

Thanks, HDX, for the advice on the intake system and O2 sensor, and for the heads up on the new NYC sound ordinance (and $200 fine!) I'll probably repost that elsewhere.

Thanks for the idea of getting together, Smylinacha--Jensen's was great, and they sure didn't rush us out!

You all definitely have to swing by Clarksburg the next time you ride up with the bikes, and it'll be our turn to treat.

(Oh, by the way, Roaddog2, we just talked about you the whole time.)

I'll send you guys pm's and post it here what the Adams weather is as bike night approaches later today. I'll also ride down to see what the setup looks like. Right now at 2:10 it's just cloudy and warm on the VT border.

See you soon!

It was great to meet you! Sorry we chickened out and came in the truck - we've had enough of the rain. Came back to the campsite - blue skies but then looked at the radar. So we hopped in the truck and went over to NH. Poured there, came back to the campsite - it looks dry here:dontknow:. So we are going to take advantage and have a nice campfire, cook up a pork tenderloin and relax. Think we are packing it up tomorrow so we can get at least Monday in for riding back home instead of driving home on a nice day.

Nice to know that you don't live far at all and we can get together for rides alot! Maybe we'll see you October 5th. On October 4th there is the Scottish Games in Goshen CT. Friend of mine is throwing there so I'd like to go and see her - this chick throws telephone poles. It's at the fair grounds and if it's nice weather we're going - let us know if you might be interested.

Great meeting ya! Hopefully next time Blue Benn will be all put back together :2thumbs:

Geez, don't feel bad--you were there for a relaxing time, so, relax!

I went down to Bike Night with my daughter, and we're back already. As I'm backing in to a spot, one of the staff says, "Reverse?! That's B- - :cus:- - t!" and continued to repeat himself. I just laughed and said, "No, it's, not. It's 'cause I'm old. I am allowed air conditioning in my house, automatic transmission on my truck, and REVERSE on my motorcycle!"

Then, another staff member hobbles over with his cane and yells "I just can't see myself on one of those!" Then repeats himself several times, hobbling around, looking at the Spyder. My daughter says, "Then stop looking at it." (That attitude is from her mother's side, I'm sure...)

Happily, these were balanced by all the people who just stood and stared and smiled and pointed at old PE #2929.

Of course, when we started her up to leave, and tweaked that Micron just a bit, it was a nice feeling when all the riders stopped and watched us leave. (Even those who could not see themselves on one...)

Just looked up the new NYC noise ordinance- a $440 ticket if your exhaust can be heard 200' away!!!!

http://www.northcountytimes.com/articles/2007/08/26/business/news/15_53_108_25_07.txt

With the 2 Brothers on Smylie's Spyder, I think they'll mail her a ticket if she even thinks about going there.....

Holy cow! :yikes: :yikes:

I have a feeling my Micron might be eligible for that $440 award, too!! nojoke

LOL - I would love to meet your daughter! I love her remark!
Glad you guys had fun tonight - so the weather held up, huh?
I'm ready to pack it in and make sure I get home and have everything done so I have nothing to do but ride on Monday - at least Monday is guaranteed Sun. I'll miss good old VT but I don't like staying long anywhere when it's dreary and rainy. Seems like it was that way in CT too all weekend. Gotta love New England.

I'll shoot you the website when I log onto my work stuff over the week for the Scottish games. I think ZeroCool is gonna come too!
