View Full Version : New Use for Glove Box

We discovered a new use for the glovebox yesterday. We had some leftover taquitoes and a couple pieces of quesadilla. So we wrapped them in foil, put in the glove box and drove for thirty more minutes. Approximate temp as shown on the display was 90 deg. Could probably have driven thirty more minutes for the food to be a little warmer but it did OK. And of course, in the middle of trying to eat the food and get back on the road some folks in a convertible drove up and wanted to talk about the Spyder.

When you get a good dose of food poisoning you will realize how dangerous and ridiculous this is.

Now, that's just silly. The Nanny wouldn't have let them eat it if it was dangerous. ;)

Used to cook on the manifold of my Triumph TR4. Not saying it was healthy but I'm still here and never suffered from it. Glove box working as a food warmer is a great idea...:2thumbs:

Heated many a meal on my M-37 engine in VN, that is when I got to use one of them instead of walking. I was suposed to be in the USAF, but thatr is another story.

Yep, heated plenty MRE's on the hood of Hmvee's and the APU's of UH60's.

Little JP8 fumes never killed me.....yet. lol

Used to cook Hot Pockets on my Bombardier Ski-Doo so why am I not surprised you can do it on a Bombardier Spyder. I have to try this on 2013 RT-S. It's so friggin' hot it should be no problem

Used the engine on the line truck many times to keep our red hots hot. Familiar with the -60? That would work too. Never got sick. Kept my box lunch in the crew door on the 130. Kept the drink nice and cold, popped the top on the coke and had ice crystals in it. The manifold on the 37 heated up canned soup, meats etc. from C rats nicely. Hey, we had to be inventive.

To speed up cooking time or if you like it alittle more on the well done side just remove the foam insert from the glove box.:roflblack:

What a great idea. Now I am not so sure I want the heat problem to go away! :D

Just one more reason I'm thinkin of swapping my 2012 for a 2013. I ride all year and need the winter time heat. My 2012 isn't hot in the summer, it's going to suck in the winter :(.

Mebbe I'll find one of these 2013 guys that hates the heat and wants to swap :).

Sorry, but you guys/gals with the 2014s will have to wait for someone to come up with an exhaust reroute system. The 2013s were designed with this feature STANDARD!! :D

We'll just have to wire a "Hot-Dogger" up to the collection pipes under the bike! :D

I at a time long ago would wedge a can of beans between the cylinders of my 1966 BSA 650 Lightening. Had no money, lived on the road, life was good. Next bike was a 1976 Honda 750 Super Sport. Had a home by then. Then I met THE ONE and had to ditch the bike. 36 years later & we are now Spyder riders. Funny how things change when a woman changes her mind.

This was not the first time I have used engine heat to warm food. Never had a bit of problem with it. On the other hand I did drink a glass of iced tea in a dining facility in Iraq where they had connected the water supply directly to the local Iraqi water supply without a filter. I can assure you that I am fully aware of what happens when you ingest bad things. I can also assure you that Immodium is not all it is cracked up to be when it meets some real intestinal bugs.
