Forgot about a Merril Lynch account I had...statements started showing up when I went back to work for a company for a second time...Not bad 4500.00 after sitting for 8 years. Started watching diminish with the economy/housing market to 2800.00...ironic that I got an email that my quarter statement is ready to view today...I'm affraid to look and wonder if I should have had a little fun with the money instead...lots of Spyder accessories there. Oh well.

THAT BLOWS, MY PORTFOLIO LOOKS LIKE A CAN OF WORMS TODAY, BUT DONT WORRY, WON'T BE JUMPING OFF ANY BUILDINGS CAUSE I HAVE A SPYDER TO KEEP MY MIND OFF THAT FINANCIAL MESS.

Know what you mean I lost enough day to buy a Spyder.
Don't have mine yet to keep my mine off the mess. Just have to rely on My Boss Hoss Trike, & Rune to keep my mine off it. OR I can set and wonder when it will ever get here.

As long as my Sealy doesn't go bust - I'll be fine - that's where I keep my investments!

We're just seeing the tip of the iceberg folks.

The past 8 years are really going to take their toll during the next 8.

most of my investments are in real estate property, but as people lose jobs guess what, rent will stop getting paid. I shake when my phone rings now and the caller ID says tenant.

Thats true but there will be more available tenants because they can't afford house now. That drives up demand for rentals. This housing mess is good for rentals.

I have a Merril Lynch acct as well, suffice to say, never will I trust any companies in investing my hard earned cash. The hullabaloo is all smoke and Wall Street is an organization of the well heeled stealing in broad daylight from the good American public.
Big bonuses even when something has failed, boggles me. And we call it free market. What BULL>http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_19_7.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=_undefined)

I got rid of my real estate over 2 years ago and went into fixed income and Emerging market ETFs. Was doing well until the interest rates went to hell and EM ETFs decided to take a dump. However, I feel the ETFs will recover so I am still averaging down on them. As far as fixed income I am going offshore. I think there is less risk offshore than in US financial markets.

I'm no finacial guru and don't even pretend to understand anything about investing in retirement. I called to inquire what it was worth and it's actually gone up since last quarter, so that's a plus. I didn't even remember starting a retirement account the first time I worked here and it was kinda like a really good "found 20.00 in my pocket" feeling" when I got that statement. Once my youngest is ready for school and my wife starts teaching again we'll probably start again. We both come from a more traditional style of family that works to support the next generation and relies very little if any on outside of family and/or government help. I'm sure it just bugs me or anyone else it happens to when you think of all the other things you could have done with it besides it disappearing. I am always just happy to be employed for as long as I can work!

I'm not advocating just repeating. Someone told me that when things get "real bad" your best investment is firearms. ;)

Thanks to a shipping glitch I ended up with TWO rifle scabbards to fit my SKS and Hi-Point Carbine. One is destined for the New Holland but the other one will be adjusted to fit the SpYder if needed!

HAHA you all keep me smiling:) even in this crappy stock market. I like how everything we do somehow comes back to "The Spyder"...I too "lost" a spyder last month on one of my accounts so I will just sit and wait for the time when I can say I earned another Spyder this month!! I think a nice long:spyder: ride is due me this weekend to get my mind off the money.
