Just bought a 2012 RT. Always been on two wheels, friend of mine can't ride anymore so sold me his Spyder with 800 miles on it.

Motorcycle friends are already trashing me about how bad Can Am Spyders are, so with my perverse nature I'm determined it's going to be trouble free and fun :).

Won't even have it in my hands for a week or so, it's out of state and we gotta work out logistics.

Anyone want a nice used Connie? :)

Thanks First Sgt. Retired Navy CPO here. Really looking forward getting on three, although I'm keeping the woods bike, I need trees to knock some sense into me on a regular basis.

To both the roadster world and the place to talk about it. You got a great unit that will make fools of all the doubting thomas's you mentioned. Your going to love it and when your comfortable you will in the mix or ahead of it..they still won't like it...congrats..!! :ohyea::ohyea:

A lot of us keep a two wheeler around Chief. I still have a cafe'd BMW R1200R in the barn (even though the doctor says I shouldn't ride it :lecturef_smilie: I still sneak it out once in a while for a few memories )

2012 Kawasaki Concours ZG1400. 'Sport' Touring bike. I had a 2008 and totalled it with a deer, insurance bought the 2012 but I never quite got back to full capability. Coming up on 2 years post-deer and still don't feel comfortable holding up a 600lb bike and my balance isn't 100%.

Woods and trail riding is still fun, light bikes, the getoffs don't hurt much but street will be more enjoyable on the Spyder. Test drove one at the dealer and it'll take some getting used. Hopefully wife will want to drive it as well.

:congrats::welcome:on your 2012 RT! We had a 2012 RT Limited and it was a great bike - no issues and rode it about 7700 miles last year.

Yup that's mine, 'Candy Arabian Red'. Locationwise I'm about an hour North of Raleigh, just a mile into NC on the NC/VA border. Pretty much ride year round, I've got warmnsafe.com heated jacket and gloves.

Farkles on order already are the heat block plate and 'missing' belt guard since my road is gravel. I'll be adding LED driving lights, the front end protection, sway bar / link kit pretty quickly.

On another note....is there a way to tell from VIN if it's RT-S or not? Carfax says it's an RT-S, owner doesn't know, just knows it has the sound system. Haven't found a VIN decoder that says what the free-form digits are for a Spyder.

You've asked the right person... and I don't know! :opps:
I took my 2010 RT A&C model, and turned it into an RT-S over a period of three years. I added every item that was needed, and it was a fun project...
When I traded it in; the dealer listed the bike as an "RT-S"... I don't know if he could do that, if the V.I.N. would tell a different story.
If the bike has:
ACS rear suspension
Rear speakers
heated passenger handgrips
Chrome trim rings around the auxilliary gauges
Foglights
Accent lights
dark smoked chrome wheels
Extra chromw accents on the top trunklid, saddlebag sides, and front "spoilers"
Then it's probably the "real deal". :2thumbs:

My brother-in-law had a place in Murphy. My wife and I stayed there in the spring of 2007 for a week. Nice little town.

adding to my excitement....called my local dealer about adding BEST to it, he looked up my VIN and told me I was covered until late Dec 2016. It had standard warranty, and a Can-Am promo warranty.

Since it's been sitting a year or so they recommended letting them do a basic service and computer updates, guess that isn't a bad idea, it'll have 1100 miles on by the time I get it home. I'm usually a wrench on my own stuff person but these guys have a good reputation and bringing her to a pro every once in a while probably isn't a bad thing.
