Spyderpops install question

I have been thinking of installing a Spyderpops Block off plate on the right side. Part of the instructions is to remove the bottom floor panel for increased air flow. Are there any negatives with removing this panel? I mean it seems to me that BRP installed it for a reason...so if I remove it what kind of problems might I be facing in the future?

I can always ways ryde without the block off plate. If I install the plate, I know I have to open up the bottom. I have no problem doing that--I am concerned about what kinds of problems I might encounter by removing the bottom panel...I mean in the future.

any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I tried searching the forum for an answer, but my search was unsuccessful.

I did the following on my 2012 RT Limited:

I left it in place and cut large holes throughout the bottom plastic plate and then used a wire screen (pop riveted on). That way the air could go through, but the debris, stones, etc. stayed out.

Really helped me with the hot right foot issue. NO problems with cooling. Never overheated and rode it 7,650 miles before we traded it in. :D

many have removed them altogether I still want the added protection so I just did this....:thumbup:

I removed them on my 2012 RT-L and 26,636 miles later I gave them to my dealer when I traded it in on a 2014 RT-L. No I'll effects from removing them. I think Lamonster posted awhile back that he has removed these panels from every Spyder he has owned.

Had mine removed by spyderpops 3 years ago and have 30K+ miles with no adverse affect.

I did keep the underneath panel that he removed, just in case. Have had no issues.

Was also using the Kewlmetal web screen in addition to the block off plate,
tight fit and then hard to clean block plate so just went with block off plate.

Leg/foot is cooler, engine temp remained the same :thumbup:

I guess they are really kind of useless--except for keeping out road debris. A simple expanded metal grate would do that. Any ideas why BRP put them in the first place? I mean, it would save them money to not put them in, so there must be some kind of reason????
