We left Salt Lake City around 11:30 this morning hoping that the bad weather would be gone. No luck, made it to Fillmore, UT where we stopped for gas and were regaled with pictures of the mayhem taking place on the Interstate about 20 miles south of here. There is a lot of snow and slush on the road and several semis crashed in the southbound lanes. Crazy weather. We had a cup of coffee and decided to check in at a hotel rather than ride through it. If it was just me on the Spyder I might consider it, but I'm pulling a trailer and Joe's on two wheels. Better safe than sorry.

So Fillmore, UT is a wide spot in the road. The lady at the hotel told us there were two choices for dinner, the restaurant at the hotel and a Chinese restaurant at the other end of town. She said the Chinese was good so we went there. There were 3 tour buses there and one open table so we went for it. The Chinese were all taking pictures of the Spyder as they were leaving the restaurant and one guy even had the nerve to sit on it (I ran him off) The place cleared out and before they got all the tables cleared another bus pulled in.

Computer worked fine. I think it only likes cold weather. Weird isn't it?

Even Canadians don't ride in the snow! :roflblack:
Waiting out the weather in never the wrong thing to do...
I hope you & Joe have a safe trip tomorrow Ann.

I am not a dirty FC and I ride in the snow.
don't get me wrong with joe there its a wayy bigger risk and if its not a race then they made the right choice, even though I am sure joe could do it, he is damn good at the riding of the motorcycle as the restaurant they were would have said it.

It was 31 when came home last saturday morning. Joe and ann come up here and do some alignments!! you can stay here and work out of my garage, there is no laser alignments on the west side of the state.

Comparing experiences, I was told that driving in the snow with the trailer (loaded) is an advantage because it keeps the rear wheel on track.
However, if it is hard on 3 to do it on the snow... I can't even imagine on 2.
Best choice was to check in and wait it off!

Good move just because you have three wheels it’s not a 4 wheeler drive your drive wheel would have been in the deepest portion of the snow not good I got cot in a blizzard here in Colorado last year on my way to work almost did not make it you have no traction nojoke jtpollock

It's a good thing you decided to stay put. Cedar City had 6 inches of snow and power was out. Early May in Utah is always iffy with the weather. I made it home with only a few sprinkles and no snow. I thought I was crazy until I saw someone water skiing at Mantua lake on the way home. Temps were in the 40s. Ride safe and once again thanks for everything. Cheers, Larry

The best thing is..... this will be one of your most memorable trips!!!! the mundane trips kinda blur together... but the ones with issues tend to stand out. Be prepared to enjoy the memories!!!!!! Some of our worst situations made the best trips!

You are absolutely right! I am glad that we decided to stop yesterday as it appeared that the road was snow covered for at least 50 miles. They were trying to remove two of the wrecked semis this morning when we went past. Started out this morning at 39 degrees and it was in the 90s when we got home just a few hours later.

Thanks for coming to Salt Lake! I was totally impressed with you and Joe Saturday morning. I got caught in the rain on the way home after doing my sprinkler system shopping. My Spyder sure is much nicer drive now that it is laser aligned. Nancy just couldn't believe the difference in her Spyder. Thanks again! Glad you made it home safe!

You made the right move for sure. Coming back from the Black Hills, we flew over some of that white stuff. I could not believe how much snow got dumped--again.

Also ran into snow in the high parts of the Black Hills on Monday 5/6.
