Quite some time ago, there was some limited information on this forum about a transmission program change that automatically caused the transmission to down shift if excessive throttle were applied at low RPMs. I have asked my dealer several times if they knew anything about this change and they consistently reply that they have no knowledge of this change. Does anyone know if this was a real change or was it simply a bit of wishful Internet wisdom that wasn't accurate ?

Try setting your bike to trailer mode. Auto downshifts when revs drop below the 3500 rpm safe zone. Its not new.

I don't really drive in a way that the program change would be used. I just think that it would be a nice safeguard against potential, accidental damage.
