I haven't had a lot of riding time on this beast but I have had a lot of wrenching time as always. I started by taking all the brushed chrome parts off and having them dipped by Wicked Liquid Creations. He's driving here as we speak so I can install them and get ready to head to Daytona with Spyderpops in the morning.

http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=84388&d=1394199462

I've also installed a Lamonster Garage CAT bypass to add a little sound, lose a little weight and get the heat away from the fuel tank. This thing came out killer and we'll have them in hand crafted stainless for the 1330 and the 998. :doorag:

I've also redesigned the highway brackets to be even cooler than they were before. I'll be installing the pre-production brackets and pegs along with a couple of products that the world has yet to see. I'm really excited about this Spyder and can't wait to make it my own and put lots of miles on her.

Looks great Lamont. Great to see the move away from the chrome.

Did you also cut down the windshield?

That CAT Bypass should give you more than just better sound. Great looking work there Lamont. No Micky-Mousing around (as usual).

Have a great time in Daytona! Hope the weather holds up! :ohyea:

I had a muffler shop cut off ends of my 2014 cat, bent 2" stainless steel cat bypass pipe to fit; second day I had RT.
Major increase in exhaust flow out of muffler, with stock muffler louder with a neat triple motor wailing sound when on the gas!!
Stronger torque off idle on up to 6,500 rpm. The 4,000-65000 rpm is really strong pulling.
Exhaust flow temp from muffler increased 50 deg. Idle is 175 deg.
(cat weighed 15.6 #).
Your cat bypass is 1st class!!!!
Thanks for building the 2014 cat bypass pipe.

Will bypass install on 2013's RT's?

Couple of questions on the bypass.

1) Would it void your extended warranty?

2) What about resale in Ca. where the CAT probably needs to be there to pass EPA? Do Spyders ever need to be smog checked on resale?

3) If you put the bypass in, can you put the CAT back in if needed later or is it cannibalized?

4) I thought the 2014's did not have heat issues and the CAT was moved? So I assume doing the bypass is for other reasons?

Have no idea on the warranty, sorry

This is like any other CAT bypass, none of them legal for street use that I know of, neither is changing any stock exhaust but people still do it.

There are no parts taken from the stock cat, it will bolt right back up.

There is no heat issues from the radiator like the early models. I did this more for the sound and the increased torque. The 2010-2012 cat bypass will help with heat issues.

Thanks Lamont for the answers.

One more.... does it effect engine tuning and possibly cause codes? I thought I saw a post a while back where a guy did it and then got lean codes or something?

I am interested in this. While I don't have a heat issue on my 2011 from a comfort point of view, I would like to get rid of the hot gas tank problem I do get on hot summer days.

I agree w/Finless. Wisconsin I think is lax on CATS on bikes at this time, but it would be nice to have the option to re-install it just in case johnnie law decides to position a deci meter anywhere close for a quick sound check. Also I would check w/BRP about how it would effect fueling if any at all.last thing you need is a dead machine out in the middle of nowhere because it tripped a code or somethngi Have 2014 RT LIMITED ordered, just waiting for snow to disapper and a few good rain storms to wash the sand and salt away.course it is pearl white so the salt might not show up as much. It does look like a quality piece and if the price is right I might have to try it. I have this sickness for perf.parts, not much into the plastic chrome stuff.Have owned 94 and 03 goldwings and never got into the double stick tape stuff.nojoke

The pre-production part needed more angle toward the rider so that will be corrected next week. It's not bad but not what I wanted and that's why you test fit this stuff before it goes out to you guys.

Now the cat bypass is nothing short of awesome. This thing sound killer with the stock pipe and it picked up some torque for sure. I can't wait to see if it's going to help the mileage too. This is the perfect trip for that.

The brushed metal pieces wrapped in CF looks great Lamont! If you don't mind my asking, what did it run you to have that done, or what price range should I expect to see when shopping to have that done?

I was also interested in a shorty windshield (less drag/looks better/more air). Which one did you go with, and how does the quality of it compare to stock?

Lamont

loved seeing and hearing your new stuff at Bike week

the new foot pegs are nothing short of great - can't wait for you to make your changes, and the thing we talked about regarding resting our feet on the up angled bracket (what we talked about when you were at Ultimate Seats)

the bypass sounds great - if you can get the tone a little lower and 'grumblier'.... that would make it perfect

Lamont, put me down for 1. I have a Supertrapp V5 gathering dust. While you are at it, can you fab a diverter tip like on your M109? Paypal trigger finger is itchy! I would like to have it on before Spyderfest for her. Plan B is another Two Brothers. Thanks! Your mods are looking sweet!

I just picked up my 2014 and was very impressed with the brushed stainless or aluminum on my 2014 RTs will not change them in any way was very happy not to be in chrome, tired of all the chrome on my previous bikes have gone to mostly black powder coat on my last few bikes, did a lot of the black carbon fiber on my silver 2012 Spyder I think I'm going to leave this one alone.:2thumbs:
