Well today ends two weeks of driving on ECO mode in and around Pensacola. My average MPG came out to 34 miles per gallon, I do need to say that I am still on the low end of the putting miles on it though. On Monday I will start a two week period of non-eco mode and see what the mileage comes out to.

Be safe and have fun :doorag:

Based on your test, it looks good that mileage will take a little jump on the 2014's. I would guess that it will also improve as you get that 4500+ break in mileage on the odometer.

That is what I am thinking also..Stay Warm my Friend

Pick mine up in a couple of weeks and I don't think I will use ECO mode. I thought with the lower RPMs that the mileage would be better then that. Hope it gets better as the Spyder breaks in .Enjoy and let us know how you make out in regular mode.

Al,
Thanks for performing this experiment for all of us! :2thumbs:
I can't wait to see how the fuel mileages compare... ;)

I'm just under 400 miles and I am getting 34 MPG. The 2014 has an ECO mode? Just kidding. I turned that off before I started riding. I am just happy with the RANGE I get now.

I am also kicking around putting nitro-fill in the tires I did that on my truck and am actually getting about another 2 mpg on the truck (2012 Dodge quad cab, hemi,). However for now this is just a thought. I will post the results of the non-eco in two weeks, more than likely on this thread as to keep it together.

I have ridden over 6500 miles now and I get between 35 and 38 mpg depending on how brutal my riding habits are during a given period.
I do not leave the eco mode on constantly.. I only use it when I am shuffling around at lower speeds and don't mind shifting rapidly at low rpm.
Clearly there is improvement over my 2010 and 2012. Once again today I filled the tank after riding 200 miles - that was clearly impossible before

You guys are REALLY making me want to break the bike out of it's hiding place, and lay some miles on it! ;)
But the roads just ain't clear enough yet! :gaah:

Same here. 2 1/2 blocks of ice and the rest of the roads are good for riding.

Well just got home from a 300 mile road trip. I averaged 38 MPG on Eco mode.
plus on highway at 70-75 MPH and another thing is the tire pressures. I have played
around from 17 - 25 Fronts And 20 - 30 Rear. I found the bike handles the best at
25 Fronts and 25 Rear plus I use an Air equalizer for the front tires.
The 2014 RT handles like a dream. LOVE IT LOVE IT I NEED MORE OF IT !!:clap:

You are a better person than I am. I couldn't force myself to go more than 1 tank of gas in Eco Mode. My bet will be that you will not see much of an improvement in mileage. You now know what the Spyder considers optimal shifting points for economy and if you keep that in the back of your mind you should get similar mileage.

Ann it was easy, just told myself for every tank of gas I could have a snifter of Cognac :doorag:

I read your forum and I think you are lucky for the temperature, here in Canada, I do not think of a ride with my 2014 Spyder before another month. This morning it is still only 5 degrees. By chance I'm getting down to Florida in April for 3 weeks to give me a little break of the winter. By the way I read almost all the post for the new 2014 and I find very interesting. Keep up the good job.

We should be getting some rain later on this week...
HOPING that it cleans the roads off enough for at least a taste... http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_33_15.gif
