Yes this is another review of the 2014 RT-S.

I was originally supposed to pick up the 2014 RT-S in Timeless Black with an 622 trailer back on October. As we all know they were delayed but it was well worth the wait. On Feb 15th I headed to Pitbull Powersports in MO, right around 1100 miles for me. Some may ask why I drove 19 hours to trade in my Spyder when I could have done it any one of the dealers between here and there. Those of you who know Len and the Pit Crew you already know why. When I arrived after driving 19 hours it was around 9:45 PM on the 15th. Len was there to meet me so I could drop off the trailer carrying the 2012. Pitbull is closed on Sunday and Monday but that did not stop Len from getting things complete on the 2014 RT-S that I was there to pick up. The man is just dedicated to his customers. He even allowed me to tag along with him and his two lovely kids all weekend (Sunday and Monday). I did get a good look of where Spyderfest is going to be this year and I am even more excited about attending. Anyway back to the 2014. Tuesday morning we were expecting some parts to come in for the build. Good thing I arrived early as the parts showed up 10 minutes after I arrived. The Pit Crew got very busy and started installing all of the additional items I was getting added to the RT-S. They installed all of the Carbon Fiber Hydro-Dip, Garmin 660, frunk switch (they even made sure that the switch was red and not blue). After all of the paper work was finished up we took off to Dinner.. This is when I really noticed the difference in how the 2014 RT performs. The 1330 really has a lot of torque. When you need the power it just gives it to you without hesitation. While I was in Springfield I was only able to put 18 miles on it since I was headed to see Lamont the following day. I was able to get it up to 92 MPH and it did not have a wiggle or a wobble in the steering. Not a single vibration noticed at any speed from the belt. While at Lamont’s we installed one of the Lamonster Bars and the trailer hitch.

I arrived home on Thursday February 20th and hit up the DMV to get the tags for the Spyder and the trailer. Was too tired from the trip to ride.

February 21st was unable to ride since it was thunder storming here in Eastern NC.

February 22nd I was actually able to get out and ride. Put a total of 163 miles on it. I did not have it in ECO mode as I wanted to get the feeling for the new transmission. I found myself shifting between 3000 and 4500 RPM. This thing is so quite at 70 MPH that you can hear the on coming cars tires as they pass you on the interstate. It is very different to be running down the road and not having to listen to the whine of the V-Twin. Out of the first 163 miles I was able to achieve 30.25 MPG. Not to bad as I was only getting 26.48 on the 2012.

February 23rd, the wife and I headed to see Bruiser and Bruisers Baby in Goldsboro about an hour and a half from where we are. We put 157 miles on it today and we achieved 33.92 MPG riding two up. This is a vast improvement from the 2012.

All and all we are really enjoying the new ride. We did notice that the radio is either much louder or it just sounds that way when at highway speeds because of the low RPM. The handling is more sensitive then the 2012, I would have it laser aligned when I was at Lamont’s but it was pretty dark and it was close to midnight when we finished with the sway bar and the trailer hitch. I will have it aligned at Spyderfest!

More to come as I am trying to plan it just right to when I arrive at Spyderfest I can get the first service complete.

Looks GREAT! Hope to be getting most of the same treatment very soon. Only trouble is that it is still COLD up at Len's place right now. Want to ryde but may have to trailer it back!
