MICHELIN ISSUES SAFETY RECALL FOR COMMERCIAL LIGHT TRUCK TIRESMichelin is recalling one version of a specific size of the Michelin LTX M/S tire. These tires are typically found on such vehicles as commercial light trucks, full-sized heavy duty vans, small RVs and some large pickup trucks.

The tires were produced between January 2010 and June 2012.
The tire version and size are:

Michelin LTX M/S LT 225/75R16 115/112R LRE

The tires were fitted as original equipment on some new vehicles and were also sold as new replacement tires.
Michelin is issuing the recall because a small number of the tires being recalled experienced tread loss and/or rapid air loss.

Michelin recommends removal of these tires as soon as possible. Owners of the affected tires should visit an authorized Michelin retail location as soon as possible to have the tires replaced at no charge.

On a side note....everyone should know how to check for out of date tires.

Tires really should not be used for more than 6 years, some tire experts even say as little as 4 years. Really

In the DOT sequence number found on every street tire you can find the production date.

On my van that date is 3611, that means that they were produced in the 36th week of 2011.

The recall is very specific to one size of one line of tires Michelin tire - LTX M/S LT 225/75R16 115/112R LRE. The HydroEdge is not included.

I have those on my truck. But the DOT code doesn't match the recall tires.

Cool

The good side for me is that I have 11,000 miles on my van this past year and now I get free tires!
