View Full Version : Has anyone had their SE5 Rt or ? Dyno Tuned

I started a new post because I did a search and couldn't find much and this below was several years old.
The post below says it can't be done because of the VSS.:banghead:
Does anyone know how to disable the VSS so that it can be Dynoed? 2013 RTS ltd
I'm checking with local Dyno Tune shops and the first one only did 2 wheel Harleys and none will know the Spyder very well.

I wondered why they did not ask me if I had a se5...
Well if that's the case, I am gonna ask for auto-tune instead of Ron wood slip on they are offering me along with pc.
It is my understanding, a big thanks to Magic Man goes here, that in order to dyno the Spyder they have to disconnect the VSS. This works fine for the SM5; however, the SE5 will not shift out of first gear with the VSS disabled. BRP is supposed to have some software that will let them override this limitation, but they do not let it go to outside parties. This includes dealers, as they do not want anyone taking a Spyder on the road with the VSS overridden.

Yep that's just like the other riders that tell me they can "lay down a burn out for 300ft" if my Spyder spins that back wheel for more than a second the dash lights up orange galore. Somebody will have to find a way to trick the VSS for sure to dyno tune.

I checked into it as well. None of the dyno shops around here are set up for the Spyder nor will they even try. One guy even laughed and said if I brought back a motorcycle without training wheels he might consider. I told him I'd be happy to take on any of the two wheelers sitting in his shop if he felt so inclined. I would even spot him a length or two. For some reason he never took me up on the offer.

hook the dyno to a wide treadmill and put the spyder on it and go..!! :roflblack::roflblack:

I just recently inquired to two shops around here who both can create maps for the PCV, but neither would do the Spyder. Therefore, I ordered the AutoTune with the PCV. That will probably work out better in the long run anyhow.

I've heard that will cause the speedometer to stop working. Do you know if that is true?

That would be a major job mounting all 3 on the rear because u have to maintain a .051-.075 gap on the wheel/sensor gap .:banghead:
Being a Machinist that's a project that I wouldn't want to tackle, maybe in my younger years.

What about connecting the fronts with rear,so they think that they are going the same speed as the rear??

Anyone know if this could be done?

It was the beginning of last year when a friend did this so my knowledge is a bit limited.
I don't recall any speedo issues that he mentioned.
If I'm remembering correct you only need to figure out the mount for one additional sensor in the rear. I think I remember him saying there was already one extra spot back there???

I never looked for myself, just remember bits of the conversation.

NOpe; it'll still work just fine! :thumbup:
