Great reminders, Thanks. And I love the vest he is wearing. I would like to get one if available.
Please let me know if anyone knows where they can be found.

Vest looks hand painted. Just need to find someone REALLY talented in your area that does that kind of work. Talk to your Spyder dealer or any other motorcycle dealers and they might be able to steer you in the right direction.

I posted this on Facebook, but I remember visiting Pearl Harbor with my grandparents as a child. I'd never seen my Papaw moved emotionally before. But as a man who had served in WWII, the memorial seemed to really effect him. Even as a 12-year old without much appreciation for the sacrifice yet, I remember being stunned that the ship was right under the surface where I could see it. And that all those people had died right there. Can't imagine having been part of it. Thanks for helping us remember.

Not in our lifetime will we allow it to be forgotten. Tho, am not sure the debth of their commitment and sacrafice will last the test of time. Sadly, true patriotism in the sense of military service is waining.

I was nine months old so I don't remember anything on the public reaction. But history quotes Admiral Yamamoto saying " today we woke a sleeping bear. I hope we don't regret it.""

I think that he figured out his own answer to that question soon enough...

Kris' dad served in the pacific on the second Hornet. We have his diary. What an insight to history. I for one shall not let the memory die.

The pacific war, mainly the naval battles is what I majored in. The quote from Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto has never been verified. The quote most attributed to him is "I fear all we have done is awaken a sleeping giant and filled him with a terrible resolve." Another unverified quote attributed to Yamamoto after the attack is "Gentleman, we have just kicked a rabid dog." It is known that although he was the one who designed and executed the attack on Pearl Harbor, he did not want to carry it out. Yamamoto was generally fond of Americans and America. Ok, school is out for the holidays.

Thank you for putting up this important reminder of our history. I sincerely hope we are not the last generation to remember these events.
