My husband wants to change the grips on my spyder for larger ones. Have any of you gone that? What do you think?

I have not done that. I have tiny hands and was actually looking for smaller grips! Sorry!

I actually put a slip on cushy grip over the stock grip. This makes the overall grip larger. It is more comfortable for me because I don't feel I have to grip so hard to get hold of the grip and it is cushy. They were only $10.00 and with some dishsoap I was able to slip them on. My husband doesn't like them that wide, maybe we are just weird. For some reason the larger grip is easier for my smaller hands than the smaller grip. You could always try the slip on's first and see how they feel for you. If they don't work it's not a large investment out the window and you can just take them off.
Good luck,
Deb

I've tested a lot of grips through the years and a larger grip is better. The smaller the grip the tighter you have to grip it to turn the throttle and to hang on. It's a leverage thing. I found that 1.5" is just about perfect.:doorag:

I usually prefer a large grip. Most of my vintage bikes have the old Gran Turismo grips. Much nice than those hard, skinny stock things. Exceptions are the Spyder and my BMW R1100RT. Both have identical grips, and they don't bother either of us. I think part of that is the Throttlemeisters installed on both machines. Don't have to hang on as tightly, and can let go once in a while.

Another low budget mod...At walmart, becasue it's the closest store to me...Wilson soft grip tennis racket tape. I get 2 of the 3 roll packs and wrap 2 rolls per grip, increases size of grip about 2 mm and is a little more spongy. Has a great grip of course.

So a larger grip is better for small hands! Hmmmm, I guess I will be getting a larger grip.
