I don't know when I will be moving forward towards other mods after receiving the Spyder. For example, those Corbin Bags are $1700. At this time thinking of spending another $1700 (at one time) on the Spyder is unfathomable.

All I can think about for any kind of overnight trip now would be utilizing the trunk, and possibly a backpack, if my Wife (and, I'm sure she would be) is going. I've ordered the Spyder with the Sport Rack, and Backrest. How well that would integrate with a pack; I have no idea.

Any serious mods would be way down the road, for me.

So far the side bags from GIVI are my favorites (V35) They look like they were made for the spyder.

Lamont, do you have any idea if the system Ken / Evoluzione is working on for side / trunk bags will work with the bushtec hitch?

Id really like to get a hitch for Sams club runs, but would like the side bags for standard storage.

I plan on calling him soon and seein where hes at with his system.

With the BRP backrest you can not en put a bag behind it on the "Sport Rack" check outhe Corbin seat and backrest for more options with a backrest, smugglers trunk etc.

 Ching cha Ching, Ching!!! $1,000,,,, $1,500....... Giddy Up!

'Guess we will just have to take 'few clothes', and cram everything in the front trunk! But, hey; the tank bag would be helpful in these little travels. And, I'm sure a little backpack for the wife would be doable.

Now; I know to some that the difference of $300 or so between the BRP Sport Rack/ Backrest and the Corbin w/backrests isn't much. But, for me; the difference is substantial. This is especially true since everything was put on the single order. :) My intention when buying a bike, or in this case, the Spyder, was never really to add bags, anyway. We will juat have to see what kind of 2 up traveling is done.

For any kind of serious traveling, I think I would prefer going the route of a trailer. That way, the Spyder is trim, and mean looking all other times. :)

Spyder takes many soft bags well. Some have to have strap extensions. Without a passenger it loads everything in just a couple of bags. Here is my earlier trip to our club rally this year. All my camping gear and clothes fit as well or better than on my BMW with the hard bags. Two Helen straps and two bungees. -Scotty

:2thumbs: That exactly what I ws going to attempt to do, not so much the front fairing but the complete tourpack from the Ultra and the better shaped seat for the passenger. My main complaint from my spouse is that she is uncomfortrable with the lateral force when cornering, due to the fact that our :spyder:does not lean and has asked me to come up with a solution (apart from the stock backrest which is minimal in the lateral help department ). If I ever get around to finding the solution like the Ultra tour pack as shown on the :spyder:I will post the result... In the meantime I better hide the picture of yours as if she sees it I will be locked in the garage untill it is completed and our outside tempreture here in Northern California is expected to exceed 111 today, no fun...

Actually I don't think I'm going to do much to it - maybe a small custom paint job on the back fender and a different exhaust. I want to see what next year's Spyder is going to be and might be eyeing one of those.

I like Scotty's idea, don't much like bags on the sport rear end of the :spyder:. I guess they would serve the purpose on a trip..... but that is just my preference.

I can alway use some of the space on the hubby's classic.....:doorag:

As a BMW rider, I am just used to this method of packing. I use two waterproof bags. The yellow one is a Seal-Line bag (canoeing), which loads from the top and contains most of my sleeping stuff. The black bag is also waterproof, and is a Helen 2 Wheels clothes bag. This opens along the side, and is easier to get in and out of. Everything else fits in there except the cooking gear, which is in the trunk or saddlebag, and the rainsuit, etc., which stay on the bike in the trunk, saddlebags, or tank bag. Tent goes on top, and the red stuff sack holds the Spyder cover. I usually also pack a chair, but used a small folding stool this time that I stowed in the trunk. I also stash in a folding cooler for later use.

This is all strapped down with two Helen 2 Wheels packing straps and two bungees. The straps don't harm the Spyder grab rails. I pack similarly no matter what the ride. Almost identical setup for my R1100RT, my 72 BMW R75/5, or my 65 Triumph Bonneville. I have even done this on a small vintage Honda. The load also doubles as sort of a backrest on longer rides. I love motorcycle camping!

Scotty you are a packing genius.

I do love to camp too but the husband can't stand it so we usually hit the cheep motels
