I just went on this board this a.m. before a ryde and saw that bjt had passed the 500-posts milestone (http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5674&highlight=amazon)!

Congratulations, bro!

...And thank-you. I know that your many thoughtful and detailed explanations, pics, chats, pm's, and videos have educated, entertained, and helped myself and many other members make informed decisions about modifications and purchases since you've been on board here. :congrats:

(Now...will you tell me where I can get one of those black long-sleeved spyderlovers t-shirts?!)

Well....:opps: shucks folks. Thanks for the kind words. I notice that the correct choice in jeuchler's poll got a whopping zero votes. :D

BTW John, you were exactly where you needed to be to get that long sleeve SpyderLovers t-shirt. Remember that fun filled weekend the beginning of June? You just didn't talk to the right guy, did he lamonster? http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Animals/mini-raccoon.gif

:congrats:to both of you,
You both inspire me to want to add more to my :spyder:.
Speaking of adding things to my spyder, I would love to have the two power outlets on my dash like you have on yours. Would you be so kind as to give a detailed description of how you did that modification:2thumbs:It is great! I would appreciate any information you would share with me.

Thanks

Adding the outlets themselves was very easy but they were just one half of two additions to get our 12 volt needs setup how we wanted.

The first thing we installed was the Evoluzione Powerbus (http://evoluzione.net/evo-cycle.htm). I would recommend getting the version he sells that has the ground terminals built in. You have to call and ask for that as he only shows the standard Powerbus on his web page. That took about 1 hour to install. The instructions were very straightforward and you could do a search in these forums for powerbus to get a few additional tips and info about it.

Then we added the PSO-001 Standard Powerlet Sockets (http://www.powerletproducts.com/products/plugs_sockets.php) to the dash. Here is a thread with some pics of the outlets installed on the dash. (http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5171) I used an 11/16" knockout punch to put the holes in the dash. Powerlet sells an 11/16" hole saw for cutting the holes if you don't already have something to make that size hole. You could also find something similar at your local hardware store.

From there, it just took a few 8 to 12 inch lengths of a thin gauge wire (16ga, 18ga, ?) and a few of the female crimp on terminals to connect the Powerlet socket to the Powerbus. That's about it. :) Feel free to ask any more specific questions.

*Electrical note* Powerlet states that their PSO-001 socket is rated at 16amps. If you want to properly and safely utilize that current capacity, you need to use 14ga wire and up to a 15 amp fuse. I only used 3 amp fuses for the outlets so I was able to use some thinner wire I had laying around. Right now we only use the outlets for our Integratr / iPod power so 3 amps is enough. If we go to heated gloves, jackets, etc. we would need to use a larger fuse and I would verify my wire size is compatible with the fuse size.
