I thought the RT was a great concept in 2010, but I didn't want to buy the first year machine. Waited for the 2011. Better. Looked at the 2012. Better! 2013? Better suspension, tires, brakes,... YES, BRP was listening! So, I plunked down the cash for the new and "improved" 2013. I guess, if you call that "impulsive," that would be me! :( :banghead:

i am sorry to say i am a big impulse buyer. today i took the nose off the bike to change the shocks, one of my elkas is leaking so i decided to put the stock shocks back on. than i will put the original windshield back on the bike and change the seat back to the original and also take off the led lights i put on and also take off the air horn if i can find the old horn. and as soon as the heat recall is done i will shop around for the best trade in price and make a deal for the 14 rt/s

Kelly and N.a.d.a. Are good starting points but you have extras and you have a different customer base. Those that want one will pay a fair price. Dealers and re-sellers will low ball and site all the past issues. Once these are solved you will be able to get more no doubt. You will also have low mileage etc...sadly it will take time but no different when you drive a car off the lot. These roadsters do hold their value..from what I have seen...:dontknow:

It's not about what you've got IN the bike ; it's what you got OUT of it that truly matters!
Dollars may have to matter; but in the end... it's just money. ;)

And I'll give you back Nothing..:roflblack:

On another note, I get a kick out of someone that has to dump a 13, and then buys a 14...

i have no money to spend on this by loosing so much on a trade in. as far as going from a 13 to a 14 rt i really have no choice if i don't want to burn my right foot. but it will all work out in about 10 or 20 years when my asbestos law suit is settled. by than we can figure out where i can put the oxygen tank to breath with lol

I loved my Spyder when I rode it home from the dealer . . . loved it on the one hour ride to the dealer to drop it off for the recall, and will love the ride home. The issues I have had have been, primarily, an inconvenience (thankfully it didn't burn on me! :D,) much of which was caused by the dealer where I tried to get it serviced :banghead:. I'll admit I got a good purchase price ($26K the beginning of June) from them , but the after sale customer service stinks :banghead:. There is one young kid who does all things Spyder . . . even getting a message passed to him when calling on the phone is a battle :banghead:. I plan to wear my Spyder out before trading it in on a new one, just like I do with my cars (just traded in my wife's 2001 Toyota, purchased new, for her 2013 Toyota. Someone is going to come up with a way to get air inside the Tupperware . . . I have a plan that might work . . . or might waste $50:yikes: . . . but I'll try . . . and I'll keep tuned in here for better solutions . . . and I'll keep loving my Spyder.

Not really sure what you are trying to show with these figures. Realize that not everyone pays MSRP for a new bike and the quoted price of 22.7k is still well above dealer cost for a new RT/S and in the range of what some are selling new for. I am trying to be a bit vauge here to protect dealers but pricing is negotiable and the used market is very much in line with pricing of new units. 2014s will be in demand and likely sell at or above MSRP for a while. 2013s have been heavily discounted and $3k rebates applied along with free BEST coverages. For the net difference, I can afford to spend a few bucks on some insulation and will watch what users come up with for air flow rather than throw an additional 10k or more to trade for a new set of unknowns.

What do you have in mind??

An inline duct fan, somewhere up inside, sucking hot air out and venting in down and behind. That would create a low pressure area that should pull cool air from everywhere it can come, and will, hopefully, keep things inside the Tupperware, cooler than they are now. This one is less than $15 at WalMart! http://www.walmart.com/ip/14150766?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=3&adid=22222222227009812511&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=13687877470&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=34444134190&veh=sem

I'm trying to figure out how the '14s are going to solve the hot foot problem. The only side pictures I've seen of them show the same right side vents as we have now. Presumably, the left side has the same vents. Even though there are two radiators, the water temperature is still going to be, at a minimum, whatever the thermostat wants it to be. One would think by placing the radiators up front, the hot air would be exhausted somewhere around the front suspension, or down toward the pavement. :dontknow::dontknow:

I imagine the oil cooler will remain in front one of the slots with maybe the other adding some needed ventilation. From the BRP data, it appears the headers will drop down to the right side of the engine and down along the bottom to the cat, so oil cooler will likely stay on the left.

That should leave the right side empty to keep your lunch hot. The grill will keep it from falling out. :roflblack:

Those radiators are up in front of the A-arms... I honestly believe tha the hot air from them will have had a decent chance to shed some BTUs before it gets anywhere near your feet...

Don't think I'd buy a used RTS for $22K when there are dealers selling them for $18K.
