Cindi & I spent last week looking for a place to buy in Eastern TN that will serve as our retirement home...We found this great cabin in the mountains in the Greeneville area that we love...It's got an issue with water in the crawlspace and we're waiting for results of an inspection before we make an offer on it....Trout stream in front, barn with 4 horse stable, loft for hay, seperate part of the barn for vehicle storeage...That would be our Spyders and a hot tub to boot...Wish us luck on the inspection...I really want this place....

Hope you get a good inspection. Welcome to Greeneville. Who was your agent who showed you the house.

I had a french drain and sump pump installed in our crawl space. Took care of the water issue. Looks like a nice property.

Well, eastern TN seems to be the hot retirement spot. Wifey and I will be in the area on the 12th to look at a few retirement homes. Wait, did that come out right??? Finding a log home with a decent barn or garage that they don't want a fortune for is the trick. Oh well, got nothing but time.

Not sure why so many of us seem to be gravitating to log homes in our retirement. It isn't logical.....but they sure are neat!

When we get it out of the ground. Just finally closed on the construction loan yesterday. It is amazing how long the banks can draw these things out. We start digging the basement today.

When you get divorced at 50, younger women and toys once again become a priority.
Now, its not a log cabin, but it is some nice mahogany, with good ventilation. I could probably trailer it until needed. :roflblack:

We no longer have to operate with LOGIC or REASON...and if all else fails...you claim senior memory loss...works everytime!!! How is the Scotty/Nancy project (home) coming as well as your thumb? Sure looking forward to seeing you at Spyderfest 2014...you got a bye last year because of new home project...just cause it didn't get done not accepting that reason for 2014...you guys are an integral part of Spyderfest and when not there sorely missed...:yikes:

:congrats: Larry. I hope it works out and you can stop the house hunting.

I want to meet up with you and Cindy before you leave this great state.

Could you do us Michiganders a favor and take Detroit with you?

The logic portion of buying a log home for retirement never even crossed my mind. At my age and with what I have seen in my life logic is so over rated. Time to have fun and get what I want. Kinda like when I bought my Spyder.
