This cougar was hit on M-65, just north of Long Rapids near Alpena, Michigan by ...a car. MDNR had to come and put him down. He charged at the MDNR officer in the process. And you thought no cougars lived in Michigan.

Well, at least one DNR officer is a believer. They'll probably say it was an escapee from a zoo or from Canada, like they always do.

The last time there was a Wolverine sighting in Michigan it was reported that it came from Canada. That is one large cat! There were several undocumented sightings when I lived there but I never thought they were so large. :yikes:

We have had sightings and evidence of panthers in our area but the DNR says there are none around here.

With all the wild dogs, coyotes, the black bear moving south, sightings of cougars and panthers, and now possibly wolves, I'm packing when I stray to far from the house.

I may be a little paranoid, but if I ever come across one of these, better them dead than me.

That is one very big cat. They are very good at ambushing from a tree or other place. I sure would not want to tangle with one.
