If you are planning to drive the Cherohala Skyway this summer/fall make sure that you take a little side trip just outside of Tellico Plains, TN at the west end of the Cherohala. About twelve miles outside of Tellico Plains, River Road runs off to the right and follows the Bald River for about fifteen miles up to Green Cove. Halfway up the road is Bald River Falls but the road itself is worth the trip as it follows the river winding down from the mountains.

Here are a couple of videos.

I was there just yesterday.... we have a cabin 10 miles furthur up River Rd in the boonies above Bald River Falls...
When they finally get the road paved all the way up I am going to have a party there for Spyders! Hopefully next year...

You can actually go all the way through from Tellico Plains to Murphy NC on that road but it is mostly gravel after you cross into NC and major construction is currently underway towards paving part of it.

I love that road and go up there every time I ride the skyway. It is neat to hear the river above the sound of the bike
