My Corbin seat arrives on 6-30-08

Wow...I called Corbin to order a seat and they told me 4-5 weeks. I complained about the delay and they told me they'll ship in 2 weeks if I ordered that day...so I did. I got an email on Tuesday that the item was shipped...in only 5 days! It arrives on Monday!!!!! :-X

The wife is anxious...she's not comfortable on the Spyder. :dontknow: I added passenger floorboards for her so she could move her feet forward and that helped some but the seat has been a pain in the @$# for her...hope this $500 seat combo solves that.

Let us know how you like it. Was the seat with both front and rear back rests. You got it for $500. I figured Corbin would be a lot more expensive.

$500 sounds pretty sweet! I thought it was around $1000. Oh.... that price isn't with the backrests?

OH boy , if the wifes not comfy now I think your going to be in alot of trouble unless she likes her seats REALLY HARD. Corbins are carved out of old pieces of concrete. Corbin will tell you it just has to break in.....ya ok.

The seat was about $300 for the driver and about $200 for the passenger's. I didn't order a backrest for myself because the seating position on the spyder puts the driver in a leaned forward position...I didn't think I'd be able to lean against it while riding. She doesnt need the backrest because she's got a backrest pad on the givi tour box or I can remove it and let her use the BRP backrest.

Corbin says their seats are hard but that actually makes sense if you read why on their web site. If you have soft foam, like the BRP stock seat, you butt sinks into it as the foam collapses easilly underneath you...leaving you no padding and cush for your tush. ;D

The harder foam doesn't all collapse...leaving more cushioning to absorb the bounces.

The other big thing is that the BRP seat is upside down. It's high in the center and low on the edges. The Corbin is the opposite, it's concave. This allows the seat to engulf your tush with more seat contacting you and up around the sides as well. This means that your weight is distributed more evenly with your weight spread over a much larger area, reducing the pressure points. With my tush that's especially so...it's really spread ove a wider area!!!! ;D ;D ;D

If this doesn't help...she wants me to get a conventional trike...she's thinking a Suzuki Boulevard by Lehman or a GoldWing by Lehman.

If you like a frim seat then you will like it. I understand the PR response about reducing pressure points etc, I owned a corbin, rode it for 3000 miles and it still hurt my butt and I went back to stock vowing to never own another corbin seat.

Just checked ups tracking mine will be in tuesday ordered carbon graphite leather with both backrest. 8)

SpyderBiker..... I was actually thinking of getting the Corbin seats also. I like the backrests that they make, and I really like the bags. Please be sure to let us know what you think of them once your receive them. I would love to hear your opinion.

SpyderBiker - If you do go the trike route, recommend Motor Trike conversions vs the Lehman approach. I have had both and the Lehman rides like a Farmall tractor compared to a Motor Trike version.

I would recommend sitting on the corbin seat before buying. I noticed that the seat moves you more forward and for me being 6'4" it was very uncomfortable.

Would you mind posting a picture of your Bill Mayer seat? We are riding to CA in September and I am going to have a saddle made while we are there. We did that for our beemer a few trips ago and it worked out great. I am just trying to figure out how I want mine done, as I think I want to take off about 4-5 inches from the driver part of the seat and use that for the driver backrest area.

Did your Corbin fit well? I just got mine this evening and it won't close or latch. I slid the brackets as far back as possible but it hits the tank. Any suggestions?

Some have installed without a problem, others haven't. Lamont definitely had to grind a little on the install he did... and my front seat just barely fit.

Do this, too:

Loosen the bottom two bolts on the front catch and then loosen the "pin" so it sticks down a bit more... try 1/8" at first to see if that does it. If needed, unscrew it even more.

If it fits, tighten the bottom two catch bolts.
