I'm working on three of my own mods;
I am working on my own trunk liner, using material from the a fabric place. I'll sew it later as the dry fit is ready.

I think I may try my hand at my own Windshield. I have some 24"x24" 1/4" lexan/carbonite.

I am partway through my own mirror extensions. Made out of high density polypropylene. (It's the stuff that is used as slick rip fence) I'll paint it when done.

1/4" Lexan maybe too thin. I you make it high enough to work, it may wobble and flex at speed.

I'm interested to see what you come up with for the mirror extensions.

The stock shields are thinner still. My BMW has a Cee Bailey's aftermarket shield, and it appears to be 1/4". My old Vetters had stuff 3/16" or thinner, and were quite large, flat, and upright. Both the design, and the number and degree of bends in the shield add strength and stiffness. Only way to find out is to try and make one, and test it. I'm considering the same option, since nobody seems to make a shield that fits my picture of what the Spyder needs.

Update:
I finished v.1.0 of the windshield the other night at 2am. The only thing that I didn't like about it was it's diffused look; not clear to see through if I had to crouch behind it. I may give it away to some lucky Spyder owner.

So the next say I promptly worked on v.2.0. I solved the clarity issue. I widened the top and sides a bit. I honed my craft of smoothing the edges; if you have the right tools. 8) I tested the highway ability of the windshield and it gets a :bigthumbsup: :bigthumbsup: :bigthumbsup: Here are the pics...

The stock shield and then v1.0 directly behind it. V2.0 still has the paper on it.

Hey Sopher, When I entered your putfile address in my browser and went directly to your putfile pictures, I found a different address that embeds the picture in bulletin boards. The very first picture....

I'm very very happy with this mod.
The 1/4" is plenty thick. I've riden up to 82mph and no flexing at all. I don't plan on going faster than that anyway.

I still get a small amount of buffeting at high speed, but that may be just my short height.

Less than 50mph no buffeting at all.

If you interested in how I made it, PM me.

Oh the plans of mice and men.........I bet you will! Go over 82mph that is.......lol. Seems pretty easy to do on accident with the Spyder.

I have noticed an increase in my speed on the highway with the Spyder.
Some of it I think is due to the buffeting. No that ehri is less buffeting, I tend to want to faster.
