I agree, everyone should do Sturgis at least once. I was there with my two sons and we had a blast. Lot's to do and see, great scenic rides.

I was out there last summer but not when the rally was going on. Do you think that the rally adds a lot to the experience? I can't imagine the crowds are fun but watching some hill drags would be cool

Glad to hear you had a good time. I love the area and want to take the Spyder there some day just not during the chaos of Bike Week.

I'm curious. How was your Spyder received by the folks attending the rally? Sturgis is hardcore, and I had to wonder if the V-twin crowd was receptive to your presence.

My friend who was there said that there were lots of spyders there.

I doubt I will ever make it out there, but it does look awesome...who knows, the wife is hinting at doing some trips, maybe in a few years. We were at a Kid Rock concert the other day and one guy remarked how he was "old school" but trying to work himself into the spyder idea since his legs are giving out.....I told him that "old school" is a jockey shift, hardtail, with a springer up front....everything else is an advancement on the concept. A big twin with leg fairings on the crash bar and wireless intercom isn't exactly old school. The spyder is just a newer iteration on the trike.

I have 2015 penciled in, as it's the big anniversary. :)

also, from what I know about Sturgis, there is NOTHING going on outside of the party. the rally is about 80-90% of their annual income.

The town of sturgis is DEAD aside from the week before. During and after the rally. There's multi-million dollar buildings sitting vacant. They make their money during the rally.
It's all in what you're looking for. I really enjoyed the scenery of the black hills. I wasn't looking fora party
