For those of you with GPS, do you have the power cord ran to the aux plug, or are you running on the internal battery of the unit?

If you are running to the AUX plug, how exactly are you doing that?

Thanks

I run mine to a "Always Hot" fuse block.

GPS doesn't draw a lot of power .... I have mine wired direct to the battery so when I shut the bike down, the GPS is still running! The screen makes it obvious that is is still on so if you want to turn it off, just hit the power button. Most folks remove their GPS from the bike if they will be gone for a long period of time and/or if the bike is going to be out of sight.

The reason I like mine on is to let the GPS accumulate time on the trip which allows it to figure average speed, total time, etc. Other than that ... It's just a flip of the coin to decide which way to go!!

What GPS units are you guys using? I was out shopping this weekend and there are quite a few options.

I have the Garmin Zumo 450 but, after using it for a while and seeing lamonster's GPS, I might prefer the iWay also. The Zumo screen is smaller and the extra storage for MP3s or pictures is much smaller.

Couple of Questions:

#1. In another post, someone noted that reading the GPS thru polarized glasses is not easy. Is that common? On all my bikes, I can see all the rainbow stress marks on my windscreen when I've got my sunnies on. Same with the reversing LCD screen in my car. However, not always got my sunnies on when reversing, so it's never been a big issue.

#2. I saw a demo of a bike GPS about 18 moths ago. It was either a Garmin or TomTom. Cannot remember as I wasn't fully interested in GPS at the time. The person showing it to me said once plugged into your PC via the USB, the PC screen became GPS screen and the PC keyboard could be used for entry rather than the touch screen. Now that I'm interested, no one seems to think this is possible. Is it?
