Looks like fun--but you have to keep the skis above water on the machine.

It's actually kind of easy to cross open water on a sled; it just takes speed, full-throttle, and some real hair...

Think about it for a moment...v
The belly pan of a sled is shaped a lot like the bow of a boat.
It shovels the water off to the sides, and the cleats on the track provide forward motion...
We played with it back thirty years ago.

There is a IWA (international watercross association) that races several events during the summer months. The world championship finals is in Grantsburg, WI and it is fun to watch!!! They drag race AND race in circle track for several laps here is a video of a circle race:

 IHe must have been carrying a LOT of fuel!
I remember when Mark Maki first set the record at 51 miles, and only stopped because he ran out of gas!
I wonder if the Makis still dabble in this at all?

If you read the article link I posted, they said that they burned 20 gallons of fuel and actually had to refuel at one time by riding a jetski up and transferring gas.
The Maki's are VERY competitive in the IWA circuit. They run Skidoo's.

A high speed transfer of fuel... AWESOME! :2thumbs:
So I guess that just leaves bathroom breaks as a potential problem...

It would take less than two hours to go 112 miles. That wouldn't be a problem for me, would it be for you? Oh never mind, I don't want to know.
