Probably been posted before, but it looks like the company is still having at it and showing their prototype in various cities. I just can't believe anything can be made for that money; gee whiz, I paid that much for a 400cc Suzuki Scooter!

The Elio is being promoted on:
Built in America (Jobs!)
Cheap to run
Small and nimble size
Low price

This of course means that the technological stuff that's under our Spyder's Tupperware won't be making an appearance.
Check that... I do think that it has ABS... and three airbags!

The Elio motors are building this 3 wheeler for masses. Even most critics saying it's not possible, I'll just wait and see besides I might just get me one so I can ride all year round. If the volkswagen beetle made it in the past until today why not the Elio 3 wheeler?

$6,800 is overly optimistic. It's only a single seater. I'd rather get a lowly 50 mpg and have room for 4

Elio time again. I have also been watching this since its inception. They have changed the production date up another year--now to 2014--Bob is correct on the current advertised date.

Since I work with cost accounting some times, there is no way that I am able to see a product like this come off the line with a $6800 price. I have talked about this in the other thread, so will not belabor the point here. The comment above, about being possible if they have a run of about 4 million, is probably close to true.

It would be interesting to know if they have a production plant (actually in place--leases signed--and ready to go) and being prepped for the big run. The other question I pose, is where are all the Elio dealers? Buying one of these and not being able to get it serviced is similar to the Chinese version of the Spyder, or the Yugo. When Yugo first came out, the local Oldsmobile dealer took them on as a second line. They had them for less than a month, and guess what, no more Yugo's for sale.

The other red flag, is they are asking for pre-production deposits to guarantee that you will get one of the first ones. What happens if they don't ever produce a car? This whole thing has the appearance of a very classy scam--but for the sake of those who have deposits out there, and are paitiently waiting for the arrival of their new Elio--I sincerely hope that I am wrong.

Yep. The $6800 price tag set off my BS alarm.

No Spyderman, your not wrong it will never happen, not even the Chinese can bringa vehicle to market this cheap and 7 airbags are worth about $4500 and front suspension from and aftermarket ATV manufacturer is worth about $3000 before you even get to anything else. I can tell you from the experience of building the Qmoto you can't build the front and rear arms out of anything for less that $1500 just for 3 pieces of metalwork, let alone bushings chains motors, body work. What they are saying they will do at what price just cannot be done so and where are the going to collect the $150 - $250k of design hours back if they just made it out of off the shelf components that they didnt???

This is a fantasy and a a bad fantasy because its a cheap one. If you are going to dream at least dream of something expensive for nothing instead. :yes::yes:
