Back in the 1980's--I was canoeing in St. Louis Bay--a part of Lake Superior--when a large Sturgeon breached about 5 ft from my canoe. It about scarred me to death since I was not expecting anything like that. The wake made me grab the canoe to steady it from rolling over. That was my first and last encounter with a Sturgeon.

...1968... We were fishing for Northern pike up in Canada. (Lake Chibougamau)
We had a stringer of Walleyes trailing along that was hooked to the oarloack...
a HUGE Muskie came up from below, grabbed the stringer, and ripped the oarlock off the boat...
I about messed myself... :opps: I was sitting right next to gGound Zero, went the oarlock flew by my ear! :D

Another reason I'm a land-lubber! I think large bodies of water call for large boats.
