Power Washed the Spyder and ......

Yesterday we were running ahead of a storm front from western Maryland to home in Northern VA. When we got to the Skyline drive it caught up with us.

Needless to say, even with our normally great rainsuits, we got wet. At one point about 2 PM in the afternoon it got so dark and rained so hard I couldn't see 5 feet and there was no place to take shelter.

I got rained on hard on my recent trip to the Maritimes, Canam rainsuit, very dry except rain ran down my back when I tilted my head down, ran off the helmet down my back, I discovered that the rainsuit had a little hoody that goes under the hemet the stops that from happening, the rest of the trip I was completly dry, no so muct for my Harley riding friends!

This was the exact reason Teddy talked me into getting our Moto-Mate camper ...... he doesn't like being the stereo-typicle wet dog :lecturef_smilie:

With our first 2010 RT-S we also had the BRP RT-622 trailer which, don't get me wrong, it IS a GREAT TRAILER :firstplace:

And on our 1st major trip going from Cincinnati Ohio to St. George Island Florida the first week in July of 2010, we also got caught in similar conditions in the mountains of Georgia, also with no place to escape to, so all we could do was slow to a crawl and keep pushing thru & Teddy was none too happy about that :cus: Being brand new at the time to everything Spyder related, we had no clue what we were doing and all Teddy had at that time for protection, was nothing but his little doggy bed seen here:opps:

I kept wishing that BRP would make a camper option for the RT-622 but alas, as of yet, they have not. And with most other pop-up tent campers, you couldn't really be safe with one of those set-up on the side of a highway, so we searched for a hard-sided camper option that was within BRP's spec towing limits of 40/400 & the Moto-Mate was the only one on the market at the time. While, like anything, it has its shortcomings, for Teddy & I, it has served us well for the past 3 years and I can't tell you how many times, on long distance road-trips, that instead of fighting thru a torential downpour, we just found a nice safe place, pulled over and either watched a movie on the Ipad or took a nice nap while the storm blew by :clap: staying nice, safe and dry ;)

Been through a couple of gushers like that--and prefer not driving in them if possible. Glad the :spyder2: did not act up from all the water.

RE: BRP camper--would probably be a great option for some. Would you guess about $10,000 for it? :roflblack:

Know that wet where the sun don't shine!!! Got into a monsoon rain and STOP lights in Ga. Then hit a BIG river and a gully washer came up and over the nose and into my lap!!:yikes::banghead:! got to the first motel I thought I could afford and headed for the dryers!!!! :roflblack::ohyea:

Coming home from Va. we got caught in one of those downpours and like you said , visibility was zero and ponding was a major problem along with passing vehicles roostertailing us. Had raingear on but still got pretty soaked , couldn't go more than about 10mph and wasn't safe to ride anymore. Had a hard time keeping the bike running and had to keep revving just to keep going.Was afraid it was going to stop in traffic and we'd be rearended even with 4 ways on. It was so bad that we finally got pulled off safely and quickly got the bike cover out and stayed under it until the rain mostly stopped .Hard to hold that cover in the wind but we held on.
