I will also post this under my "challenges" post. But thought you might like to know. The issue: My former dealer literally closed 2 hours after I was in and had BUDS run to try and pinpoint my Spyder's issues. Had to find new dealer. Did just that with a highly recommended dealer. They could not get my Spyder to throw the multiple codes that it showed when at Spokane dealership. The answer to where are those BUD reports? Because understandably BRP will not authorize warranty work without that information.

I discovered with multiple phone calls that apparently (no proof but STRONG hints) that dealership "scrubbed" their laptop/BUD system .. and because I was the last person who had my Spyder connected to their laptops...all my information literally went down the proverbial drain.

So the search for solution goes on and on and on...it is out there and it will eventually appear. Thanks to all of you...

 I'm sorry that you've run up against that good old probverial, "Brick Wall". :banghead:
If this can be documented; will BRP step up help find away around this mess? http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_33_15.gif

Knowing that they were closing their doors, I don't understand why they would take your Spyder in at all. Insult added to injury. Did they actually want to punish their customers? This is definitely outside the box service.

You'll get it fixed. I have not doubt. But they sure make it harder on you.

like the smog check..when testing the information goes straight to the dmv. If we have such a complex computer controlled vehicle and they want to keep things running smoothly seems they would want the info asap regardless. Then they can perform any updates to the computer..!! jmo:dontknow: can you ride around and kick up the codes again or at least some to get the ball rolling...good luck..!!

Kind of surprised the BUDS system doesn't require internet access and instant uploading of all data the second a Spyder is hooked up to BUDS. While this may be a pain for some dealers.. it would assure all data is properly documented and stored.

Most of my high end software requires not only a USB Dongle to work, but now requires internet access as well.

Well I am very happy to hear that your dongle is being put to such good use!

:agree: I've noticed that most dealers would have BUDS on a nice laptop with a rollover table and hooked to the internet via their strong wi-fi... however, I've seen dealers that have them in a clunky old Compaq tower in a old toolbox and yes, the dealer had no wi-fi, the only internet coming from the terminals from the sales and finance people. I guess it was a case-by-case basis where BRP would contact the dealer requesting to connect the machine where BUDS is to send a particular vehicle's data. Again, a manufacturer/dealer inconsistancy...:lecturef_smilie:

I am watching both this and other threads.

Hang in there. Also, what Bob said about BRP intervening.

Customers should not be held as prisoners because a poor dealer has an issue with BRP. Here is a situation that BRP needs to think about and solve.

Were I working for BRP--you bike would be getting fixed NOW--we would be getting you back on the road NOW--and we would sort out the warranty issues later. Why should you be punished for someone elses stupidity or propensity to get even. Cost? In the scheme of things--minimal when it comes to a public relations issue that can be way more expensive than what it would cost to make you whole again.

I am a dealership technician. The first dealer most likely deleted fault data from your vehicle. It is not uncommon for Spyders to roll in with a LOT of stored codes. A LOT of the "techs" you will run into will get easily confused by the clutter in the occurred faults section of BUDS and will delete them all before test riding to see what faults come back. If the problem does not reoccur on the way to the other dealer, there will be nothing for them to see. Most times, a tech will only click the "save file" box if he thinks he will need the file to get a warranty claim paid or if he needs the help of tech line in diagnosing the problem. Perhaps you could explain when and how often the check engine light comes on and what is displayed on the meter when the fault is active.
The check engine light started coming on in Florida. It was very infrequent and for a short period of time. At San Antonio I noticed that it would come on and stay on for most of the ride But would be gone when I started the next day ride. Check engine light was not on nor had not been on that day when it went into limp mode. After pulling the key and walking away limp mode went away. But the check engine light came on. At that time I called the tech in Spokane instead I'm headed your way be there in about three days you need to check this out. The check engine light would be intermittent But never went into lamp mode. The tech said it had thrown 11 codes in Moab which put it into thelimp. On the way from Moab to Spokane check engine light came on once. Spokane Tech said you definitely have something going on it is not running right but and then told me about the business closing . I drove about 2000 miles from that point to taking it to enumclaw. The last four days before I went to Enumclaw the check engine light came on and never went away. Enumclaw agrees it is running like crap
But the only thing that is showing on the buds is 02 sensor evap canister. They are now trying to decide where to start to minimize the cost to me because only that canister/sensor can be covered by my best warranty and They insist it will just plug up again. Any other questions you have please ask just remember I'm so not mechanical!!!
Thank you for your concern and input. Have a great day
karyl

Been trying to follow this all as best as I can... I'm not understanding why some things would be covered under BEST and some would not???

I was under the impression that BEST covered basically everything except regular maintenance and wear items.

What I am understanding is that without the buds report not covered by BEST. They need the code from the buds to justify paying for the warranty work. Or in the case where I locked in third gear it was obvious that the spline was shattered And they had to turn the bad part in to BRP. The tech in enumclaw said he's pretty darn sure it's a throttle body gone bad.. I said pull it off, change it. He definitely did not recommend that he said that if he did and sent the part in and it's not bad BRP would not pay and I would have a huge bill. The codes from the buds are the gold key to BRP BEST warranty.
