I put a ram ball into the sun shade area with an xgrip. It's usable but not as stable as I'd hoped.

seems like the Kewlmetal install is what people seem to use on a handlebar mount.

was hoping for a less expensive alternative?

I really like the kewl metal mount on the handlebars. Nice and solid.

Unfortunately $50 is a cheap farkle and only the beginning!

:agree: You pay top $$$ if you want to make sure that your devices stay on securely.

I respectfully disagree but thats neither here nor there.

but if anyone has the Xgrip installed without the kewlmetal please let me know.

Two methods installing a Ram ball in the thread I linked. I have the x grip on the ram ball. Just not shown.

Scotty's method is in my thread. Actually cleaner install than mine.
