battery tender cigarette lighter

I understand that Sears sells a battery tender that plugs into your cigarette lighter and feeds back thru to maintain your battery.Sounds ideal for the rts but do they work?

Be sure it is a smart charger/maintainer, with a 1.5 amp capacity o less, preferably made for motorcycle use. There are other options. Powerlet and others, including many charger manufacturers, sell adapters to attach a Battery Tender, Accumate, or other motorcycle chargers to a cigarette outlet. Please note that this method will not work on the RS, unless the outlet was wired to the 3 amp unswitched accessory harness.
