We have had our Spyder RT Limited for almost a year, and this was our first serious excursion. Even though we live in North Carolina, it was the first time we have been able to travel an stay away for a few days because my wife just retired. As far as the event, it was almost perfect. Met a lot of great people, including some Carolina Sypder Ryders, and saw some great looking bikes. Then there was that one SOB who ruined our day. He, she or it stole our Ultimate seat drivers back rest. I guess because we had a white Spyder embroidered in it that he, she or it thought it would look better on theirs than it did on ours. On the other hand, we did ride the Rattler every day because the cabin we stayed at was along that route. We also rode the road to nowhere. Then it was onto Lamonts for a great bar-b-que and socialized with more great people, plus got the bump skid installed by Spyderpop. Thank you Lamont for putting on this event. Even though we did not get a chance to thank you personally, we wanted to let you know we had a really great time. The best thing is that our Spyder performed flawlessly, even pulling our 622 trailer. We will be on the road again soon and feel good about how the Spyder will run. A special shout out goes to the two couples we shared the cabin with and our time with. It was absolutely the best time we could have ever had. Thank you again and we will see you soon. :2thumbs::ohyea:

It was a good time, wasn't it? I got an email from the property manager, and repeat customers get a 15% discount too...

That's a bold statement, considering there are many Spyder owners who haven't heard of this site, and probably some who don't even do forums at all.

It's very possible that it was someone from the outside as well, wanting to make a buck selling it, since it had the Spyder on it. My Spyder was right next to his, same seat, same back rest, and it wasn't touched.

Ordered the replacement back rest without the Spyder embroidered emblem. Hopefully this will make it less attractive for the next thief. It is a real downer though, because we really liked the one we had and we only left it on and in the upright position so others could enjoy seeing it. We will know better next time. Lesson learned.

Sorry this had to happen. It doesn't matter if the person is on this forum or not, they are a jerk and a pile of sh##! I usually don't get riled up but this kind of thing burns me up! Sorry if I've offended anyone, it is a shame that with all of the great people at the owners event, this scum is able to wonder around and take something that he/she has absolutly no use for. I would bet they don't own a spyder, and 10 to 1 odds they also had free food both days! I guess I've said enough.

Sorry to hear about the bad experience with the stolen backrest. Most of us can think of some nice names for the person. Member or not--wrong, wrong, wrong to steal someone elses property. Let's hope they have a great encounter with karma real soon.:yes:

Really sorry to hear about the theft. All to often it is a pointless event where the person doesn't need the item has no use for it and acted on a spur of the moment impulse. Even so you are out and feel violated. Not good. Isn't there some way to secure the backrest? If not there should be.

Asked Ultimate Seats the same question. Their only suggestion was to take the back rest out and stow it or jam a wedge in it to make it more difficult. In my opinion, all I can do is stow it.

Perhaps if you drill a small hole in the shaft and run a cable through it?
