June 24 - 26, 2013
Spyder overnighter (San Diego/Julian)

Our Spyder Overnighter will be held in beautiful San Diego County. One of Southern California’s premier cities, San Diego has it all. This event will cover many of the sightseeing locations with spectacular views; so once again have your camera with you. W will be taking individual professional portraits with you and your Spyders against some of the landscapes at these locations. You will get one FREE 8x10 color photo.
Our first day will be some open coast riding along San Juan Capistrano, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Del Mar, Torrey Pines, La Jolla and Point Loma Light house. Our second day we will be going through the country back roads into the town of Julian where we will have lunch. We will finish that days ride on Del Coronado Island with again many beautiful sights. We will be having our dinner stop in Old Town at the famous Coyote Café. Our Itinerary may be adjusted as needed with additional stops along the way.

Monday June 24
We will have two meet ups for the start of our adventure.
Our first meet up location well be at 7:00am at the McDonalds parking lot at 14351 Hindry Avenue, on the corner of Rosecrans Blvd and Hindry in the city of Hawthorne. Rosecrans (WEST) exit off the 405 freeway one block in Hawthorne.

Our second meet up location will be at 8:00am at the In-N-Out parking lot at 3211 Harbor Blvd in Costa Mesa. (Harbor exit (WEST) of the 405 freeway)

Our Spyder Overnighter will start from the last meet up location by getting on the 405 freeway South. The 405 will merge into the Interstate 5 as we continue to our breakfast stop in San Juan Capistrano at Mollie’s Cafe restaurant at 32033 Camino Capistrano Blvd.

From there we will jump on the 5-freeway south, riding through beautiful beach communities till we get to our hotel (Wyndham Garden Hotel 3737 Sports Arena Blvd. (619) 881-6100). After a brief check in to our hotel we make a short ride to beautiful Point Loma View Park to see all of the sights of San Diego. On our way out to the park we will make a small detour down to the waterfront coastline to take in the sights of waves breaking on the rock formations, and watch the seals jumping the waves; great photo opportunity. Our dinner location will be at either at the Fiddlers Restaurant or near by City Hamburger both in Shelter inland. After a relaxing meal we will travel a few short blocks were we can park our Spyders right up above the bay shore and watch the sunset come over the city of downtown San Diego and watch the downtown area come alive with their night lights (quite the sight). From there back to the hotel for some needed rest.

Tuesday June 25
8:00 am we will meet in our hotel lobby with hopes that some of the other chapters will join us for the day’s adventure. We will shove off and start our journey with a little highway and country roads to Julian where we will explore the old miners town and have our lunch stop. After exploring the area we will continue our journey back a different way to enjoy other sights of San Diego. Time allowing we will travel to Balboa Inland for a tour of that area. Our last stop for the day will be Old Town San Diego were we will also have our dinner stop at the Coyote Café. Depending on our finish time of our stay we are open for any ideas and or rides.

Wednesday June 26
If you choose to we will meet in the lobby at 10:00 am for our farewell breakfast at San Diego’s Hob Nob Restaurant at 2271 First Avenue San Diego (619) 239-5856. The locals as well as Diners, Drive Inns & Dives rate this 1940’s diner as a must see, must do and must eat location. Guy says, “They are off the hook with breakfast, lunch and dinner”.
This will also conclude our adventure where some of you may choose to head back home or some may continue their journey taking in some more amazing attractions. The Midway tour and Seaport Village, The San Diego Zoo or many Harbor tours are a great way to spend the afternoon.
Either way, have a safe and wonderful journey home.

Hi, Scotty B. Dad is a BRAND NEW spyder rider/owner and is enabled. He lives in San Diego and may want to join up with the group to talk to other riders. Doubt he is comfortable enough for the ride to Julian as his actual road miles consist of his neighborhood and Sears parking lot! Is there a contact number for the organizer or a participant? What a great itinerary. Cuyamaca, near Julian is still pretty scorched from fire, but Inspiration Point is absolutely breathtaking with mountain top views to the desert.
