ST Side Wind Deflectors

​I'm considering removing the side wind deflectors from my ST-S for the summer. Has anyone done so? If you have, what did you notice that was different? More cooling, wind noise, etc? Thanks!

I thought it would look much better without them and took them off, the wind turbulence at 70 was so bad I could barely focus my eyes. This mixed in with the bad ball joints made it almost uncontrollable. It is easy enough to try but I think they will go back on in a hurry.
