What a great day for a spyder ride to get a rootbeer float. It only took 150 miles to get there & back. What a great way to spend a holiday weekend. Has anyone else put some miles on their Spider this weekend? Just wondering if anyone else used an excuse like this to log some miles? That rootbeer float sure tasted good. Hope you all have a terrific Memorial Day weekend. Thank You to all of the Vets for your service to our country. May God Bless You All!

I went 227 miles for a burger once, and then found out they had a place 10 miles away

Three hundred mile turn today with two gold wings and a harley. From La Quinta to San Diego and back. Had an excellent meal at Anthony's Fish Grotto. Two hundred and fifty miles of the ride was in the twisties and the remainder was on the slab. Almost unavoidable.

Two up, at mostly 6K and above, just over 30 MPG. The RT ran flawlessly. As it always has. Saw another RT - two up with trailer heading south, we were traveling North. Also saw another parked at a mountain cafe coming home.

Great place to eat if you're ever in San Diego.

250 miles San Diego to Idyllwild and back..many twisties two up 35 mpg on our RS who loves to run 5000 rpm's or more . Lousy food but thats not why we were out there. Good food at the Santa Isabel Casino on the way back. Then a relaxing rest in the jacuzzi and off again tomorrow to parts unknown...have a great memorial day..!!

20 mile round trip to a nearby FD for bike breakfast, followed by 40 more miles just because. Cool and windy weather here in Pa, and it was great. Met a new (to me) Spyder couple and had a nice chat as they were asking which dealer to do their service.

OK, Dennis, where did you go for the rootbeer float? Not that we need an excuse for a ryde, but a rootbeer float would certainly be a plus along the way.

We drove 320 miles to look at the baby elephant this weekend. While we were on the Goldwing we saw a few Spyders on the road yesterday. We often drive 360 miles to Boeuf, MO to get a cooler full of brats from Swiss Meat Company. Another place we like to go is 360 miles to The Cave Restaurant in Richland, MO.

So many places so little time...

We left from home and went to Sullivan and down Route 66 to Cuba:2thumbs:, over to Owensville and back to Gerald for the rootbeer float. Then we rode to Labadie for dinner at Hawthorne:bbq: and back home. The day was too beautiful not to ryde! We just wanted to spend a large part of the day on our Spyder.:spyder2:

the wife just got done with her chemo so we are taking it slowly getting her back in the saddle, but we did do about a seventy mile ride yesterday for a great gyro and greek salad! Rode along the flatbrook and did some whoops and twisties. she's planting a few flowers today and then were hitting the road for another ride!

Woke up this morning after getting a suggestion last night. She still wanted to RIDE! So after breakfast and everything else. We headed to towards the beach. Taking A1A North up the coastal highway. Lots of motorcycles on the road. Lots of semi-naked females headed to the beaches. Lots of beer bellied guys with hairy chests too. 30 miles up to Palm Coast 25 miles back. Took us 5 hours including lunch at Steak n Shake PC, fuel stop and a ride thru 1/2 of the scenic route through Tomoka State Park Preserve which has a lot of historical sugar mill ruins in it. Plus one of the narrowest roughest asphalt roads in the whole of Volusia County.

But we had fun and nothing fell off or out of the Spyder. But we can't find out why we did it when I rode it Saturday solo and told her when I got back. The loop road is or has gone to hell in a hand basket.

Oh well you win you lose you had fun you do it again.

Last weekend we put on just under 300 miles going for a corn dog at the Chevron in Fort Jones in N.California . . . while part of the ride was on the super slab I-5, the weather was gorgeous (looked like it was going to pour rain on us at home in Cave Junction, OR . . . . but turned to puffy clouds and blue sky eventually). Our goal was picking up a little two lane road that starts in Gazelle (just south of Yreka) and heads to the old mining town of Callahan and finally to Fort Jones. . . . gorgeous country with snow capped peaks like Shasta. . . . from there we followed the Klamath River hwy over to Happy Camp and then over the hill to our place in C.J. Cat rode her RS and I'm now riding a BMW GT scooter. We sold the 2010 RT last fall with almost 38K on it in two years. We waited around for the new ST's to replace it, but decided to keep the funds in the bank, and get a daily commuter and very capable weekend canyon carver/touring machine that gets 50 mpg . . . Let's have an awesome and safe riding season!
