Ok went to 3 dealers so far and these are the best prices I could find. Does it sound reasonable? If so which one should I go with is the 13? Worth the extra money. Please help me decide this is a lot of money and I am doubting myself, but I think I will love a spyder. I just want to make the right decision. Thanks Derek:dontknow::banghead:

Price is just one of many factors. You should test ride to help determine if you notice differences or like one better than the other. Dealer reputation and how well they service the :spyder2: would be another consideration for me. Don't let anyone talk you into one or the other. Bottom line, it's your call.

Let us know what you decide.

Hi if your trying to decide which RSS 2012 or 2013 i would ride both and decide if the options on the 13 modle is worth the extra cost to you some are verry happy with a 2012 as am i if you want the latest and greatest 15" wheels cruise control new fender style than the 2013 is for you also manual or semi auto is a consideration at the end of the day you have to be happy with your purchase.
Good luck and welcome to spyderlovers the best place to get help and make new friends.

don't go by the price but Dealer's reputation
also if you are in doubt, don't buy! - service ain't cheap either if you are not into it
you either love it or leave it

If money is the issue go for the less expensive one. If you do not have a great deal of time on them you will not know the differences. I got my 2012 RS over 3000.00 less and do not want to even ride a 2013. What I don't know can't hurt me. Nice to have the newest but they do hold their value and when you wear this one out go for the newest...jmho..!!

I'm sure you will be happy with either machine. However IMHO you would be way ahead with the 2013. With the new frame design, Brembo brakes, plus the restyled fenders the 2013 will be more desireable on the used market a few years down the road. It is a lot of money for either machine but the extra $ for the 2013 probably won't make a huge impact on payment. That is your decision to make.

Guys so what is a fair price for a 2012 out the door? or a 2013 out the door? Both those prices include taxes and everything. Just really looking for some guidance. I am really excited to get one. I just want to make the right call.

I think if you ride both you're going to like the 2013 better. I think you should be getting a better price on the 2012. I would see if they might budge a bit on the older model.

My 2012 RSS loaded was $16,500 in April of 2012 i would think that the leftover 12 now would be a better deal now that the 13 is out also the dealer and service would seal the deal.

I already mentioned on one of your other threads to talk to Ron at Rusty Palmers in Honesdale, PA. Tell him that Shawn Scott formerly of Binghamton, NY sent you there. They have always been great to deal with.

Location has a lot of effect on price. If there is more than one dealer in the area then try and decide which dealer you like. Then check for prices within a 100 mile radius to find the best price. Go to the dealer of choice and try and get them to match what you found. Here they start at $19999.00 for a new rss se5 2013 then you add the extra charges. A new 2012 rss se5 start at $19599.00 and then add extra charges.

You don't say if both are new or not. If you are concerned about price then consider a used low mileage ryde. Here they have a 2010 rss se5 $14299.00 with 11K on it and it includes a lot of farkles like hard sided bags, top box, stereo and floorboards as can be seen from the pictures. 11k is just gotten the bugs worked out of it and is ready to go. Is 2 years of depreciation and 11k miles worth $5,700 plus the cost (possibly over $1900.00) of the farkles? Look around and you may find something their that would be good.

Hey All

I just picked up mine Tuesday, I got a 2013 green RSS SM5 this is the first Ive owned but did ride a 2008 GS limited belonging to a friend. Had the 2 next to each other and mine sits alot lower then the 08 and the up-grades from the 2012 RSS to the 2013 RSS warranted the extra cost in my eye. The wheels and fenders alone besides all the other up-grades BRP has done made up my mind. Got mine at J&J here in Delaware and Jim gave me a pretty good deal, could of probably waited couple of months and found a close out at some other dealer but at times paying a little extra and having a dealer that cares and not just another number thats forgotten when your tail lights are out of site is little more important.

Late in 2012 and early in 2013 there were huge discounts offered by BRP and the dealers on 2012's to clear inventory. They have all seamed to disappear as the riding season arrived. It also appears that there has been an intervention by BRP to the dealers to hold pricing and quit the Low Ball Volume dealer mentality. No facts on that last statement, just a GUT fealing through observation. Several weeks ago the 8 or 9 pages of BRP Spyder accessories on Honda East Super Store DISAPPEARED! :yikes: Last I looked they were down 1 item and Elka shocks, what is up with that?

Good Luck on your decision.:dontknow: we all have different needs and tastes.

Background: I had a 2008 GS SE5 and traded it for a 2011 RT-s SE5. I enjoy the RT but wanted to check out the RS again. Test rode both the 2012 and 2013 RS. The 2012 did not appear to me to be much different in ride from my 2008 GS. The 2013 on the other hand provided a different ride but it is hard for me to explain any major differences. The handling seemed to be much better on the curves and freeway. The seating was different and I thought more comfortable. The styling differences did not make a big impression either way. 2013 seemed a little more responsive to the throttle but they did have different windshields. Talking with the salesman he explained the major differences between the 2 models. Tried to figure out what upgrades and costs I could add to the 2012 to bring it closer to the 2013. For my money I would go the 2013 as BRP has listened to riders and responded with a nice machine. The 38 mile ride back home on my RT convinced me that I will stick with it for a year or two longer to see what BRP has up their sleeve for the RT of the future. JMO

Less hp (2013's) and I think the 2013's weigh more and more responsive?

Does throttle by wire make a difference? I think the 2013's have TBW.

2013's are TBW
That also makes way for the cruise control have not used mine yet. Not sure if the TBW is better but seems to work pretty good.

I just picked up my 2013 RSS in orange for $17400 out the door with taxes and all fees included in that price. I looked around at used machines but figured the updates they implemented on the 2013 were worth the extra cash compared to what I could get a used 2012 for.

Hello all! first post :)

Orange Monster - where did you go to purchase your Spyder? I am in Euless, TX. and will start hitting up the local dealers soon...I just purchased a Kawasaki Ninja 300 SE ABS in March and saw a Spyder on the road and fell in love, now I have to go test ride one.
I was very interested in this thread because I wanted to know what everyone was paying OTD (out the door)

I agree, all being said I think the brakes, frame, and tire size is a plus for the '13. If money is the REAL issue, go for the '12.

I bought mine from Louis Powersports in Greenville Tx. I'm in Dallas so it was about a 45 minute drive to get out there but their price was much better than what the dealers in town were offering. I have the RSS SM5 just for the record and $17,400 was OTD with taxes, freight, assembly and any other misc charges they throw in there...lol
