i have an '09 RS... and just purchased a new HORN (132 db)... http://www.aerostich.com/fiamm-freeway-blaster-horn.html

http://www.aerostich.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/450x450/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/3/8/3830_1a_3.jpg (http://www.aerostich.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/3/8/3830_1a_3.jpg)
question: where is the OEM horn located, and what is necessary to replace it...?

If you are sitting on the bike it is on the left side kind of behind the trunk.

Teddy wanted me to ask, as he's never heard of Fiamm before, how much louder is the one you installed over the stocker :dontknow: We know its 130 db, but not sure how that equates to what you actually hear  I know anythings gotta be better than stock. Any possibility of you posting a sound clip of it? :hun::rolleyes: Thanks ;)

Can you get to the stock squeaker by removing the left foglight?

2 years ago this was my first mod. Got a disc horn. drilled a 6 mm hole on upper front left side panel support (behind fuse box). mounted horn so it is concealled by panel. Ran a fused wire from the battery forward to horn. Mounted a new auto horn relay. Removed leads from standard horn and attached them to relay and took output feeds to each horn and made 2 earths up. Piece of cake. useful to have terminals and crimper.

i don't know about a video... i'm just not that smart with electronics... but the new FIAMM horn has got to be DOUBLE what sound level than the OEM....

And it mounted up okay in the OEM position? No extra relays or fancy wiring modifications were needed?

I followed the link in the first post to the vendor and there is a sample sound clip at the bottom of each horn page. Leaves a little to the imagination, but it is helpful. The combination horns are louder!

Looks like a nice horn. It must need a relay as they show it as an option right below the horn. The wiring to the stock horn will not handle the load from a larger horn.

Lapirow details what is needed to add the larger horn. I would use a double pole relay and keep the stock horn also if there is room.

MOUNTING is EGG-ZAK-LEE the same as the OEM... no relays, just remove the bolt that holds it to the bike, remove the 2 wires, reconnect the wires to the new unit, and mount the FIAMM horn right back where you pulled off the old one... very simple... took about 15 minutes - start to finish...

I think this will be my next modification to the RT when I get done with the BajaRon modification.

You don't have to de-frunk the bike for the RonBar installation...
But if you CHOOSE to; why not kill 2 birds with one stone? :2thumbs:

Teddy just had me order the LOW Tone model & if its plug-n-play at only $24.95 including shipping, I don't think we could get a much better deal than this. Thanks again for the Heads Up. BTW, the actual cost before shipping is only $17.95 for this horn, as of this postings date

All this talk about a horn is making me want to upgrade mine. Besides the Stebel nautilus, will other stebel horns work also? Looking at this one. What do I need to know?

I also installed a stebel a few years back and left the stock one on/connected. When you installed the stebel, do you remove/disconnect your stock horn? Or, do you use both the stebel and stock and are thinking of adding a third horn?

i removed the OEM horn... can't see where there's enough room for both... otherwise, i'd have purchased both the 'hi' and 'lo' tone horns...

If interested, I can take a picture. My spyder is sitting with the rear panel and center panel off already, since it's hibernating without the battery installed.

I'm lazy. Look at post #81 here:

I also followed ataDude's directions.

It seems this is more complicated than I originally thought. Was thinking it was an easy swap out. Why is it that the Fiamm horn is just swapping it out but a stebel is such a pain?

all i did was remove the Tupperware, pull 1 nut off & disconnect the wires from the OEM horn, plugged the wires onto the FIAMM horn, slipped the bracket over the threated stock, put the nut on, tightened it down, turned the key, BEEP BEEP, replaced the Tupperware to completion.... all in less than 20 minutes.....

what seems to be the issue with yours...??????

How many amps does the Fiamm horn draw? I like the idea of plug and play but the Aerostich site didn't list the amperage.

No issue. Dont even have one yet LOL. Just seen all the posts about different fuses and harnesses and got confused. I am looking at the Stebel magnum though so I didnt know if there would be a difference?
