Gentlemen. Has anyone any experience of fitting the gearbox pulley bolt. I know the torque value is between 81 and 89 ft lb, but according to the parts catalogue the bolt has scotchgrip on the thread, Has anyone used loctite 243 and if so has it been ok in use. Your comments appreciated. Thanks.

The Loctite won't hurt, provided you clean the threads on the bolt and the hole well, but the ScotchGrip is stronger, does not need torque compensation for the lubrication effect, and actually has residual strength allowing reuse (at a reduced effectiveness). I'd buy a bew bolt, but reuse the old one in the meantime if you haven't cleaned it, and use Loctite if you have already cleaned the bolt.

Thanks Scotty, unfortunately I had cleaned the bolt and then realised that it was not loctite 243 on it. (dont know what I was thinking of). Comes of having a (senior moment) I suppose.
