Big investments in lithium-ion battery manufacturing. Worth the read if you're following the technology.

I read this so correct me if I am wrong.

The nichol used in batteries is mined in Sudbury Ont. Hauled to the coast
shippped to Europe, one process is done
shipped to China, multiple prosesses are done
shipped to Japan, battery is made
shipped to the USA, used in cars buillt here

How is that for a carbon footprint, and raising the cost to us.

OH!! I have an idea - build them in the USA due south of Sudbury Ont.

If they could develope a LI battery that didn't require a battery monitoring system, didn't create so much heat and didn't catch fire...

It's just not worth the expense to purchase a vehicle that can only go 30 miles or so on one charge. There aren't enough charging stations, especially in smaller towns and cities. JMO.

:agree: We're about 14 miles to the next decent-sized population centers around us...
Electric vehicles are an impossibility in our neck of the woods until the technology can catch up a little bit closer to the pipedreams... :gaah:
