Does anyone else with a 2013 ST have a high pitch whining noise coming from under the dash area? I noticed it the night I bought the ST, but thought it was just a ballast in one of the shops flourescent light fixtures. But when they delivered yesterday, I dicsovered the noise is defenitely coming from the bike. It is loudest if you listen by the vents on the side of thebike (under where the speakers mount).

I'm just wondering if this is part of the bikes normal shut down procedure or if I have an issue?

It has been buzzing for at least 10 minutes today since I shut it off.

But it does shut off at some point.

Thanks,
Greg

I think it buzzes for about 45 minutes.

If you read the owner manual you will find it in their.

I can't remember why it does it exactly, but someone on this site will give you the ins and outs.

No worries

Maybe something to do with the throttle bodies and shut down?

It's the throttle bodies being held open. Forget the reasoning behind it, but it is normal.

Thanks for the info.

I found the section in the manual stating that it will make the noise for about 40 minutes after shutdown.

I'm glad its a normal operating procedure.

It looks like they have you covered. That was from the "throttle body" issue that was plauging the 2011's. PS. I have a 2011 also.

Kudos for paying attention to what's going on with your bike! :2thumbs:
This was a fix that BRP devised in 2011(?) to aid in hot-starting the RTs.

Thanks Bob. That explains why it does it. Makes sense.

The buzzing you hear is the motor holding the throttle body closed so when you go to restart the motor when hot the air box has cool air coming into the motor help with hot starting
