Rain X for Windshield and helment shield

Does anyone know if RainX is safe to use on windshield and helment shield. Would like to have something to divert rain during a storm.:helpsmilie:

You should not use RainX on windsheild or face sheild. It will discolor it and amke it not usuable.

Unless they changed the formula, I wouldn't use it on any windshields, or face shields'
I wont even use it on Glass, Is used it on the windshield on my car many years ago, and after a while,
it left a buildup of wax and the wipers would skip and chatter.:banghead:

rain x is for only for glass it will do permanent damage to plastic...they make a rain guard for plastic but i am having a brain fart right now and cant remember the name of it....lolol....sorry

There is this great stuff called Rejex...... I use it on the bike, windshield, etc. It is safe, causes everything to bead up and run off just like Rain X. Search on Amazon for it. Greatest stuff I have ever used. On the bike, bugs just wipe off. Easy to put on and take off.

As many have said, the answer for Rain-X is a qualified "No." You can use it, and it will do some good, but it will cloud the plastic over time, so the windshield or faceshield will have to be replaced. The windshields are too expensive to replace every couple of years, but the faceshields are affordable, so if you are cofortable with buying a new one each year, Rain-X is OK.

Many things will vary how long your shields will last using rain-x. Still best to use plastic products on plastics can be expensive to find out...:ohyea:

Tulsa Enterprises, who makes some very good after market windshields for Goldwings, recommends 210 Cleaner/Polisher. I've used it on my Goldwing's windshield for 10 years now & it still looks nearly new. They have instructions on the proper way to clean it, which I have followed from day one:

I agree with Tulsa and recommend 210 Cleaner/Polisher. I believe it's as good as Plexus & much less expensive. I use it on all painted surfaces. Great cleaner and polisher in one.

Many, many years ago, more than 10 years, I started using rainx on my car windshield. Over time a film built up which did help to dispell rain, however... Minute road grit would stick and build up, as the wipers scraped across, it would cause very fine scratches. In bright sun or at night when on coming head lights hit the windscreen you couldn't see a thing. Eventually had to install new windscreen and never ever used it since.

just my own personal experance not a huge fan of the stuff.

I've been using Plexus but am considering going to the All Clear. Have an aquaintance who works at an aircraft shop/FBO, he recommends this as well.

For my helmet shield I use Meguiars M1008 Clear Plastic Polish #10. This I clean my shield first then use the plastic polish. After the polish dries I buff it, then I use Rain X by adding a little to a soft rage and let it on the rag for about a 1 to 2 minutes, then wipe the Rain X on the shield. In all the years of riding bikes, open race cars, and my Spyder. I never replaced my shield because it yellowed or became cloudy. This's IMHO.

Is there any difference in the formulas for All Kleer Motorcycle and All Kleer Plane?
