In the same spirit as the "first car" thread, what was your first motorcycle (or Spyder if it's your first)? And do you have a picture of it?

Mine was a 97 Ninja 500 that I had in 2003.
60431
My favorite however is still my 2008 GSX-R600, that thing would fly.

In the early 90's my husband bought me a Kawasaki 750. I hadn't asked for it and really didn't want anything to do with it. I rode it a few times around the neighborhood and eventually I got him to sell it. He tried for 15 years to get me either on my own motorcycle or on the back of his but I wouldn't. Now that I have my Spyder he can't get me off of it!

1981 Yamaha 400 street bike. One day I was at the dealer and I filled out the last entry blank for a 1982 Yamaha XS650SJ Heritage Special. A couple of weeks later I got a phone call.
Yep, I won that bike and still have it. It's dead in the garage. Bad generator.
I sold the 400 the next Spring cause I had the 650 to ride.

My uncle was a Whizzer dealer. Oh how I wanted one. My uncle's partner's son died on one when a motorist ran the red light and killed him on the spot. I wasn't permited to even think two wheels until I left the house on my own. My uncle folded his dealership.

I have 3 younger sisters, and when we were at out cottage up north...i would first take my 2nd sister 3 miles to the putt-putt golf, then come back get the youngest, then the middle...we would play golf and then reverse the process.....

We have done this before, but it is a lot of fun. I learned to ride on an old Cushman step-through that the neighbor gave me, but I gave it back when we moved. When I got my scooter license, I first has a Whizzer Sportsman. When I got a driver's license (you didn't need an endorsement in those days) I bought a hot '53 Triumph, but my dad didn't let me keep it. He then hooked me up with a 1964 Honda CA200 Touring 90. This is the one of those I own now.

My 1961 Honda CB92R was my favorite. I bought it from my cousin when I was 18, and started racing it shortly thereafter. I still own that one.

Honda 175 SL.. 60479 It had been laying on its side for a semester bleeding oil.. I took pity on it since the former owner was doing time for having too much fun.. many memories on that little thing.. later...when working in a band, living in Palmyra TN.. I was headed to Clarksville to set up the stage for the night.. came around a corner and their was this big dude looking at the flat tire on his big Harley.. so I stop.. long haired 140 lb hippy dude.. and said // whooo.. tell you what.. you take my bike and go find your friends with a truck to get your bike,, I'll stay with yours till you get back.. he looked at me like I was crazy.. but took me up on the offer.. Imagine.. a 280lb + dude on a MC this size wandering down the road

Same here, it was a 1965 model, and wasn't new. It had originally belonged to my older sister. It was so cranky and tempermental and the only way to start it was to grab the handlbars and start running down the street, when you got up some speed you would jump on it and pop the clutch and hope it would start. Many other 2 wheelers since then, off and on for the next 30 yrs until at last I saw the 2012 RT and had to have it. I traded in a 2 wheel machine for it, this is my first trike and I love it! Now also have gotten my brother addicted to it too! ANd I don't even have to push it down the street first! Those were the days!

My first bike was a new but really bad 1978 Honda Hawk. I rode it one year and sold it vowing never to ride two wheels again. I lasted about 3 months before needing another two wheeled machine. I am currently on my 15th bike since the Hawk. I love riding and ride as often as possible.

1948 Harley-Davidson Hummer 125 cc two-stroke, mud flap, colored cable wraps, crash bar, fender doo-dads, pinstripe decals. Amazing speed downhill with tailwind. Amazing brakes uphill with headwind. Don't ask about that bicycle headlight with generator.

It was my only tansportation when I was in the military. Sold that bike in 1987 for $600.00. It had 84,000 miles on it. It was used for the next 4 years. It finally quit with a little under 120,000 miles. Next bike is a 2011 RTS Spyder.

My "First Ride" was a 1965 Yamaha Big Bear Scrambler. It was one of the biggest bikes in town at the time, things have sure changed in 48 years. Did my first wheelie on this bad boy.........did my first over backwards in front of the high school at get out time on this bike as well. Yea, that got lots of cheers! Lots of road rash too. Had many bikes since most of them were Yamaha. I am riding a 1994 Vmax now but have my new 2013 RT Ltd ordered for spring delivery. Looking forward to the Spyder get togethers. Going to Ontario Spyder Riders Roadster Rally on Ottawa this July this will be my first event.

My very first was a 1937 Indian just like the picture shows... I was in Magee Valley and went to the cycle museum and my bike was there. ( well, it sure looks exactly like it )
I acquired the Indian in 1951 from a Tire, wheel/frame alignment shop in Beatrice, Nebraska shortly after I graduated from High School in Coffeyville, Kansas in 1950 for a price of $650. I sold the bike 5 years later for $2,250. I now wish I had kept it as I asked the Museum owner what would he sell this one? ready... sit down, He said " I have one bid on the bike for $105,000". Oh well !
