Has anyone tried changing the rear turn signals to dual turn signals and brake? We have done that change on a couple of bikes and it really helps the visibility from the rear. You would need to change the lenses to red and have a harness to connect with the brake light. Any thoughts?

Thought about doing it but haven't found the time to mess with it yet. I would like to light the back of the front fenders too. :doorag:

I believe I read on another blog that Ken (Evoluzione) has a kit to do this...

He does, and it looks like a great set-up. Here is a link to Ken's site:

Don't think that's the same thing. This mods the brake light not the turn signals.

Here's a YouTube video posted by a member on the Can-Am Talk forum that shows exactly what this set-up does. It looks like it links the rear brake light and turn signals:

Right but the turn signals are not on all the time or work as a brake light, I think that's what TT was wanting to do. :dontknow:

That's right - the HD has a harness to make the turns into brake lights too! ALso includes red lenses to change the turn signals. But I'll check out the kit Ken offers.

First let me plead a little ignorance since I am in the group that is still awaiting our Spyder. So I am speaking out of theory rather than having the ability to compare. I have a BMW R1200C as well as a Harley. I understand about the Harley adapter to alter the turn signal in to running/brake lights. On my BMW however, I used Hyperlites that installed inside the turn signal pod. By running the wires to the brake lite through the stalks, I was able to get running and brake lights in the turn signals. As odd as it sounds, the dual intensity red LEDs will actually show red through an amber lens. I did a quick look at the Hyperlite web site and don't see the exact set that I used but a phone call may do the job. It was shaped perfectly for the turn signal housing and fit near the stalk. To me, the BMW and Spyder turn signal housings look almost identical. Just a thought and was fairly easy to do on a BMW.

Thanks for all the responses. I thought the BMW lights were very similar too. (we have an R1150R) I found a Kuryaken harness conversion for metric bikes and a red led bulb. BRP shows all the male/female terminals. Hubby is going to see if all the pieces are available. I will pass on all your comments to him. I'll let you know if it works without the meltdown factor.

I am personally interested in lighting (brake lights/running lights ) on the back of the front fenders where the reflectors are currently.

I am looking at the lighting options for this. most likely LED panels wired into the current brake light assembly.

I like that option also, as soon as I get the turn signals integrated, that's next. The bulb in the turn signal is a Phillips bulb, but no one in the States has a cross reference for a red one. Need to keep the watts down - I think its 10w. If anyone knows where to find that, I'd love a heads up.

That's a good harness setup. Now if I can just find the bulb. It's not a standard 1157 or 1156. We may have to rewire a new housing in the turn signal.

 That's what I was looking for. What is the part specifically from Magic Man? Does it take care of the previous concerns on overheating, etc?

The part number for the Triple Play unit coming out next month is SPYTP-08. We are currently reserving units on a first come first serve basis. You can call the shop @ (518) 527-9722 to reserve yours. It is a total plug and play unit designed to work with the High Output Red Genesis LEDs that come with the system. As for overheating I am not sure what problem your current system is giving you?
